Mines working, but does that sometimes. Just need to wait or restart computer.

my mate in the us was telling me that anybody he knew in the uk and europe was having connection issues between 2 and 6 pm tonight, althou everyone he knew in the states were good, game servers were also playing up in europe as well

Think I found the answer.

I've configured NOD32 as advised and, for reasons unknown, my Steam location was set to 'Thailand'.

I just checked and mine was set to Germany:blink:

I have NOD32 and my location was set to UK !!

ive found that when you want to d/l a demo of say fear 2 etc the d/l rate especially at peak times can be painfully slow,
 
 now onto my point which is related to the above, if you want to d/l a big demo at peak times go into settings and then downloads and then set your d/l server to thailand becasue they are all in bed. i did this for  the empires demo and i went from 23kbs from the uk server to 490kbs from the thailand server.:D
 
just remember to turn it back to uk when you are finished
