There is one, apparently, courtesy of Radical.  Thanks to mattgirv for the heads up.

Here's the URL.

Apparently you do still have to give your credit card details, but they don't charge you for the first month.

This could be interesting... :)

Gnomie

I have a promo code for 3 months membership for only $25.. PM me if interested :)

spoong

I'll see how the trial goes, but could well be interested. :)  Thanks for the offer!

Gnomie

Just beware that the 3-month promo offer I mentioned is only valid for new members.. so if you go with the Radical deal you'll get no further discounts at a later date.

But then again, you get a free car + track with the Radical deal.. up to you, really. :)

.....So i pop round to my brothers and he says "Three months iRacing..50% off.  I've just signed you up!"

Guess I'm in for a while then

Jumped in the Solstice, did a few practice laps, jumped into qual and did a 1.49.7 (Laguna)

2 races, 2 wins, 2 incident points. SR 2.92.  One more and I'm in the Spec racer :)

 So far..so good.

Gnomie

Hey, welcome aboard! :yahoo: Once you get the Spec Racer you won't be turning back to the Solstice. The SRF is a truly magnificent car. They're driving at Lime Rock this week.

aye, i ended up doing 4 races (shouldn't have done the 4th one, i was ready for bed before i even started iRacing, and was still up at 4.00am for the 4th race :D  My eyes were virtually welded shut and it cost me my 100% record.  Still, 3 wins and a 4th place, SR 3.56  Cant be bad for my first night.:yahoo:

I'm tempted to stick with the Solstice for another day.  It actually feels 10x better than i expected and i feel very comfortable with it.  I need to break into the 1.47's before i move on :)

I'm not actually that impressed with the SRF, though i only drove it on my brothers rig previously. I seem to be far more in control of things with my wheel.  I did some low 1.00.00 laps on his machine, so I'll do some testing later on mine and see if i can get into the 59's.  I'll probably give in to temptation and run a few races in it later.

I have to keep reminding myself that SR is everything in these first few weeks and to stop pushing for wins:doh:    I'll have it up to 5.00 by tomorrow night if i do.

I might have to break out the Legends later as well.

What with this and rFactor, and R2P for LFS and nKPro, I'll have to find a way to distort time and get 48 hour days and 10 day weeks .    For the first time I'm seeing the positive side of my inability to get more than four hours sleep a day :roflmao:

If any of you are racing SRF, look out for me.  I'm currently racing under the name Andrew Stanzl2 (step brothers name..apart from the 2 bit obviously ...still waiting for them to change the name to mine) I'm decked out in DMR yellow and blue.   Add me to your friends list!

Hehe, good stuff! :D Yep, the Solstice is definitely not a bad car. I had a lot of fun with that last season, and I grew very comfortable with it. (The advanced version, that is) The SRF is quite different. It feels so "direct" and responsive I think. Some like it, some don't, but I think it's absolute bliss! :)

Good luck with your further endeavours! Wish I only needed 4 hours of sleep as well.. you should consider yourself lucky!

Try different setups on the SRF. I posted a setup here (Race talk) a few days ago. Here is the link to it on the forum. http://members.iracing.com/iforum/thread.jspa?threadID=34394&start=25&tstart=0
Adjust balance with rear pressure and possibly add +1 toe if it is too loose.

Where you going?

The Moose

Ok, it didn't take long for me to change my mind,  The SRF is bloody great :D

From throwing it off every corner to doing 59.5's and keeping it on track for 20+ laps in a row.

Amazing what a few hours with the right setup can do for you.

Tomorrows target..   58's

Gnomie

Good to hear! :) Once you do a 58:xx you should post it here.

Based on absolutely no empirical data whatsoever, this car seems to behave very realistically. It remains a lot more planted than similarly powered cars in other sims do, but it doesn't have the extreme sliding that you'll find with the Skippy. And the FFB is just terrific. Going down the straight at Lime Rock is quite a bumpy ride..!

Will a 59.06 do? No?  Bugger!     Tomorrow then

Thought I'd risk a Spec racer race at Lime Rock but was a bit scared tbh.  Decided not to qual so i could start at the back and trundle round in safe mode :D

Great race!  started 7th, finished 2nd, 0 incident points, overtook people.

I've decide the way for me to approach it is completely forget about the championships.  I'm not someone who is going to spend all week practising and doing only 1 or 2 races.  That's just a complete waste of a good sim imo.

I'm just racing as often as possible to enjoy the racing.  That suits me just fine.

As it stands: 12 races, 10 podiums, 4 wins, 4.67 SR

Ohh, my name is now correct(ish)  Stuart White  if you want to add me to your friends list.
