So, I'm thinking of getting two or three bottles of something nice for the Christmas period, which of course starts as soon as I get the bottles :narnar:

I like Whiskey, I quite like Vodka and also some of the creamy spirits too.  trouble is my knowledge is very low.  I think I can spend maybe Ã,£60+.

Do I go for a Whiskey I know such as JD? Or can someone recommend something similarly priced?  What about the other two? Vodka/Baileys etc?

Your suggestions greatly appreciated.

I fully anticipate a lot of replies here as I know we are all very errr knowledgeable on this subject! :flirty:

Baileys - bloody gorgeous but I can't for the life of me see how you're supposed to make a bottle last more than a couple of evenings :D

Tesco do something called 'Irish Meadow' (I think) which is not as good but cheap as chips so can be drunk from a decent size glass :D

Vodka - as everyone seems to drink this with a mixer can any differences be discerned?

Whiskey - Tesco do a single malt called 'Islay' which is about 17 quid and has a nice smokey taste (dons flame proof suit in anticipation of the arrival if the anal 'malties' :narnar:)

Ditto Baileys. Top tip: Baileys can be drunk from large glasses too. :norty:
Ditto Vodka. (although I'm not allowed to drink anything other than Finlandia.)
Ordinary whiskey = The Famous Grouse.
Malts = Take your pick. One man's yummy is another man's yeugh!
Tia Maria = Drink that when you want to kid yourself you're sobering up.(Coffee liqueur, on ice, huge glass.)

And beer. Asda Ã,£10 for 24 cans of Carling. :)

Sounds like that could smart...and a million other humorous responses. The Vanilla Absolut is nice if you fancy a change.

Akvavit is the only true spirit of Christmas :D

But not sure how easy it would be to get hold of over there...

A bottle of Baileys never lasts more than en evening in my household.

But what about a nice Port?  Fantastic stuff.

And, an oldie but goldie, Harvey's Bristol Cream.  Sweet rich sherry.

Ah some good recommendations there :) I would agree about the Baileys - it goes down to easily!

Still deciding here :)

Tutonic

Sailor Jerry rum is nice if you fancy a change.

Spiced rum, with a slightly vanilla flavour. Goes well with coke, but especially nice with ginger beer :)

Years ago a gf used to drink a concoction called "Brown Cow"
It was Tia Maria with milk. Tasted nice, sort of Baileysish.
The beauty was you could choose how much cow to put in:devil:

Similar to Blunts post, me lady like a White Russian. Kahlua and Milk. Tis gorgeous! And mixing makes a bottle last longer than Baileys.

Other than that Irish meadow is actually a rather nice drink, and certainly makes a nice replacement for milk in a coffee. But Bailey's is definitely nicer.

Oh and Tut knows what he's on about, Morgans Spiced Rum and ginger beer.

Now you made my wife want to go and buy alcohol.
Thank you :-)

The mind boggles. Sheepy, yer taste buds are boogered.
Not surprised if you take advice from the lanky one. :sideways:
A nice golden rum goes down well at Xmas, Cockspur or Mount Gay are both good.:D

All suggestions taken on board.

Right now I'm sipping on a Baileys :D
