Edge magazine pretty much panned it, and I hold their opinion in quite high regard. I'm really waiting for Rock Paper Shotgun to have their say before I draw any conclusions...

QuoteI've tinkering around with Homefront a tad too, and should have some screenshots and maybe even a video clip for you guys later. I'm only messed around in multiplayer, but my initial impressions are kind of hit and miss. I can appreciate what those guys are doing, but so far it feels like there are too few maps, and not enough incentive to use vehicles. Maybe I just keep tagging the same maps by coincidence but at the moment it feels like even Medal of Honor had more variety in multiplayer.

Oh dear :(

And it gets worse MVC are reporting
QuoteShares in publisher THQ dropped by nearly 25 per cent yesterday, with the LA Times claiming that analysts are "spooked" by the lower than expected review scores for new shooter Homefront.

At the time of writing the game has a Metacritic average of 72 per cent, placing well below the vast majority of its competitors â€" though notably not EA's 5m+ selling Medal of Honor, which has a score of 74 per cent.

All I can say is this is the first game for a while that has been able to use LAN and multiplayer with the ability for us to use our own servers.

I think we should give it a try.

Should be in a position to give it a go at the lan :)

I've been reading reviews all day - trying to get PC specific reviews, not XBRICK (easier said than done, as serveral website carry a "review" for the PC version and then state its a copy of the console review in small print).

The general picture is that the single-player is thin and none too memorable, but the multi-player is quite good.

See this player recorded YouTube 720p footage of PC multi-player. While it looks somewhere between L4D2 and COD graphically, the game mechanic is far more closely modelled on BF2.

I'll pick this up Friday and give dMw a full run-down.

No Homefront on Steam! Despite being a Steamworks title, it won't be available on Steam in the UK.

Got this in with the post today which I was shocked by considering I ordered it yesterday! Well done AMAZON! Thats the first time something has ever arrived the next day using first class post.

Who else is up for a game tonight?

STEAM name is DrunkenZombiee.

One thing to add. If you live in the US and pre-ordered the game through steam you got a free copy of metro 2033 and a cheaper price than in the UK =(. Seems we get a bit of a rough Deal compared to the states in that area.

I am doing the Huge update too... its a joke! Why wasn't it on the DVD?

I actually re-installed the game thinking that steam was trying to DL the entire game and I hadn't installed it to the HDD. =(

I am on a 50 meg connection and I am only getting about 8 meg DL speed. I paid good money for the game so I should get line speed. Stupid steam-works titles having to update with rubbish DL speeds *Rant Rant Rant*.
