F1's ruling body: Red Bull have no case to answer over Sebastian Vettel's passing of Jean-Eric Vergne in Brazil. All the details on #SSN

That's a disappoiting statement seeing as the rules are clearly defined.   I wonder how they so quickly dismissed the situation?

Reading the bbc link:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/20541589

It appears that there was a marshall waving a green flag before the green light, so Vettel would have passed the flag-waving green before over-taking.    I've rewatched the video a couple of times now and tbh at that screen resolution I can't see the flag-waver, but I guess he was there.

Quote from: bbc.co.ukThe situation is complicated because the track-side warning lights and flags and Vettel's dashboard display appear to have contradicted each other.
Three-time world champion Vettel pulls off the pass on lap four of the race before he reaches a green flashing light indicating that the yellow caution zone - in which overtaking is not allowed - has ended.
And his dashboard display shows the yellow-flag warning sign throughout.
However, on-board videos of the incident appear to show a marshal waving a green flag on the inside of the track.
It has emerged that incident was not investigated during the race because a green flag was being waved at a marshals' post after Turn Three. Vettel only began his move after passing that flag.

I checked through the vid about 10 times looking for any sign of this mysterious marshal on the inside of turn 3 waving his green flag..... frame by frame i cant see anything. Also the speed of the pass seems to me like he was let past or Vergne didnt expect him to pass as they were under yellow

I think the ramifications are just too large for them to change the result... If it had been picked up and a drive thu given it could have changed the whole outcome we will never know

If anyone can spot that marshal let me know where cause I'm scratching may head. Maybe Shergar and that big pile of treasure from Sierra Madre was in the way

If the car has moved a nose ahead of another, he has at this point overtaken a competitor, and in this case he has not given the position back, but you have to remember why the yellow flag was there in the first place..If it's flashing yellow, is that the same as double yellow flags? and a solid yellow a single yellow flag? I think you have to show that you lifted off in that section, especially under double yellows

I think there would of been a case if an announcement was made that it was to be investigated during or after the race, otherwise, the result should stand IMO (On the bases that if a football match finished and then a decision was made days later that the goal didn't cross the line...)
 Bring on the randomness!
Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

new footage, apparently the in car footage had on screen gfx from f1tv, but the raw feed,......  when the film slows down look mid-top left screen at the structure ... marshall waving green flag, long b4 the overtake
best watched in full screen

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Yep that sort of closes the issue.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.
