2013 F1 @ Silverstone - dMw Three Day Event

At the dMw LAN party recently a group of petrol-heads were in the bar discussing F1 and the possibility of organising a trip to the 2013 F1 Silverstone Grand Prix Weekend next year.  We're looking at getting a weekend pass which gives you access on all 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) to see the F1 action and other scheduled events.  The 3 day ticket is/was £155 this year.

We're looking at using camping facilities (posh tent or a motorhome) for accommodation during the weekend.  

Posh camping looks something like this and includes:

• A pre-erected bell tent
• Double bed
• Stove
• Electric sockets
• Coir ‘carpet’ flooring
• ‘Posher’ toilet facilities*
• Breakfast

This particular campsite is the official F1 campsite, so it also has a full entertainment schedule for the evenings, is only 250m from the circuit (entrance 15 at Club corner) and allows you to bring your own beer, fire up your own BBQs/Firepits etc and generally have a damn good time.   I'm not sure on the prices, but prices for the 3 day Silverstone Classic event were £500 for 2 people sharing a tent (ie £250pp).

The alternative is the 'rent a Winnnebago' market, for which there is surprisingly good choice out there.  Prices run at a similar level pp for a 'modest' air-conditioned all-mod cons RV that sleeps 5-6.

Clearly there's a lot more research to be done here, but what we'd like to do is to get an idea of the potential interest in this event.  So, if you think it sounds like your kind of thing then stick your name down in this thread and we'll keep interested parties in the loop as research into the options continue.  

Putting your name down does not commit you, but the above prices should be a guide.  When we see how many people are potentially interested then we can talk to the various suppliers about group rates (if we get enough people).

Interested. I loved going last year and the posh tents/wigwams looked nice and were really close to the track.
