Not sure anyone needed reining in, all Alonso said was that the Ferrari was not good enough and that they need to do better.  It's been a Ferrari no-go area for years whereas every other driver in the pit lane is allowed to criticise the performance of their own car.  All seems a little bit anal on the part of Ferrari?

I think the reporting of Luca's comments were also overstated, he didn't slate Alonso at all as far as I read, he simply made a statement about needing to stick together as a team.

If anyone needs reining in then I can think of an excellent candidate in the Red Bull garage!

That's true, didn't one driver get the sack from Ferrari for criticising their car? (Prost?) but I still think some of them whine too much, I sometimes think of how the thousands of employees and engineers feel when comments are said, especially those who have worked day and night.

I think it was the private convo between luca and Alonso that caused the 'drama'.

Kimi Raikkonen in 2009?   He'd be very vocal about the poor performance of the Ferrari that year, they were being beaten by young upstarts (Red Bull and Brawn GP).   Not exactly fired but certainly told his services with no longer required and he was pushed out of Ferrari with a full year left on his contract with them.   Allegedly Philip Morris paid the severance and Santander paid his salary for 2010.  Allegedly.

....and this is why I just don't see Raikkonen moving to Ferrari (assuming Alonso left for Red Bull or Massa was 'sacked').

FYI this was on Topgear tonight (which was very interesting hearing how much Great Britain contribute to the car / racing world!) as well as Mark Webber in a star in a reasonable priced car

Looks like Sauber might not get that Russian investment after all - and that means we are in danger of losing a team mid-year....

And thus rumours spread.   Sauber's statement this morning.

Quote from: Sauber F1 Team"Due to erroneous reports and rumours circulating in certain media, we feel compelled to make the following statement:
The collaboration with Russian partners, as announced by us, is progressing well. The contract with driver Sergey Sirotkin is in place. Preparations for his involvement in the team, as likewise announced, will start next week following the end of the customary holiday period in the sector.
Beyond this, initial payments to the team have already been made, as per contract.
A financial involvement on the part of NIAT (National Institute of Aviation Technologies) was never mooted. The plan envisaged a purely technical partnership.
We are astounded at the heedlessness with which some media are prepared to spread false reports and rumours."

Agreed, bit of news as well that Kimi will not be moving to Redbull after talks 'broke down', I think it may be Ricardo depending Alonso position in Ferrari.

Can't see Alonso leaving Ferrari tbh, so Red Bull go the low cost, low competition risk with Ricciardo imo.   Just remember that Red Bull do not have a number 1 driver policy.........it must be true, Horner said so on TV.    Multi 21, Adrian...........

I imagine Raikonnen didn't fancy playing second fiddle to Vettell for an entire season, hence the snub.
