Apparently we should now all be trying to eat 7 a day instead of 5.

QuoteThe researchers found that eating fruit and vegetables was associated with a lower risk of death from any cause, looking especially at deaths as a result of cardiovascular disease and cancer. The higher a person's intake of fruit and vegetables, the greater the protective effects seemed to be.
People who ate seven or more portions a day had a 33% reduced risk of death compared with people who ate less than one portion

Excuse me but, despite all this healthy living advice, the last time I checked mortality rates were holding steady at 100% :narnar:

In today's world, even if you eat healthy, don't smoke, don't drink, and don't do drugs, something will still get you.

Pollution, genetically modified "food", food of dubious origins, pesticides, additives, and all that crap is still not healthy, whatever the capitalist media and corrupt researchers say.

To live a healthy life, one needs to live on a mountain, or an island far away from any taint of "modern" civilisation, whilst growing all the food yourself.

Marketing ploy to help the fruit and veg sectors out just as the 5 a day was too :)

QFT. Totally agree here. And home grown tastes so much better! We grow loads of fruit and veg. Make our own jams and preserves, and what we do buy in, we get from our local farm shop.

TBH ive been on a few courses due to my back and we get given Nutritional advice by Dr's and some  think that the actual levels are a minimum of 10 per day, but that people wouldn't eat that much so the 5 was adopted due to being  more acceptable level

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Yup, and six smaller meals a day is far healthier too. Keeps your metabolism rolling. But that's just not practical so three per day is the general norm. Also, the largest meal of the day should be breakfast, then lunch, finally dinner should be the smallest. Who here does that? For us it's the other way round!

Yeah the old saying...
Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dinner like a pauper.

Trouble is with this 5/7/10 aday... I'm not a great fan of veg but love fruit... The natural sugars and acids in fruits wreck the enamel on your teeth!
