Lotus 98T time again, this time on a much faster track.  The maximum turbo you can run without taking engine damage is 70%.  80,90 or 100% will damage the engine, even if you try to use the Rev limiter (like we used to when we ran it at Monaco).

i'll try a bit harder on this combo you boys were about 8 sec a lap faster than me on the last combo!

Aquilifer

Sorry I wasn't present in the Estoril races. I really tried, but the car was quite handful even in offline. Driving with a gear stick and trying to play with the turbo lever without burning the engine. Managed to do laps offline, but few spin online (yeah, spins literally) I found it no fun (or realistic) to drive with cold tires.

Hey Dan! Great to have you on with us, I wondered if you were a DMW when I saw you on there :) .  That was a tricky combo but we had the advantage of setups!  I advise you get your hands on two apps: Ptracker (created by our own Neys) and XYChat

Ptracker: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/ptracker-stracker-v2-6-update-for-ac-1-1-x.13169/   This will allow you to get setups/ and see more useful timing/position/lap info etc when racing and also it will propperly log your times on the combo leader board, which can be found here: http://77.108.135.2:42223/lapstat

XYchat:  http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/xychat-0-2-10-chat-app-for-multiplayer.10684/  The existing in game MP chat is pretty useless.  This one lets you see more chat history etc.  You can always join us on TS too :)

Np, shame ya didn't enjoy it, I had a blast!  Oddly enough it was tire heat more than coolness which was the issue most of us were having, setups helped a lot too though.  You only have to drive careful for a lap and a half or so and the tires get up to pressure/temp...just like LFS.   I guess next time we run a full fat race car with slicks we can use the tire warmers and see what it's like.   I hadn't been using it on the server just because I thought it was interesting to see how the dynamics of the tyres behaved and partly because we were used to LFS, which had no tire warmers.

I would be interested in what others think about tire warmers.  Should we use them if the car in real life obviously would have them, like the F1 cars for example?  Some classes it's hard to say, do they use them in GT racing? I have no idea.  Personally I don't think I would like to just have them on for every car.

Neys

Hi Dan - you've been added to the DMR members group, so you have access to all sets in ptracker :) Welcome aboard!

Aquilifer

Comparing to LFS, I would say LFS is much easier in cold tires...well I didn't drive much F1 in LFS...don't like them.

I don't think F1 tires are designed to be driven in normal (not heated) temperatures. I don't know other race series like GT3...they don't show them in TV. About normal civilian tires. I think AC has a bit odd idea in what temperatures normal road tires work. I think they shouldn't need much heating (but on the other hand they couldn't take temperatures racing tires can). Now 'cold' civil tires can be nightmarish in AC.

hey seany thanks for the info fella a great help!
see you racing soon not sure i can make this week though!

Car: Corvette C7R
Track : Salzburgring

Salzburgring Download Link http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/salzburgring.2798/download?version=4132

Current TRACK Version on Server : Salzburgring 1.01

===========================================

We were going to run Z4 at Algarve this week, but I discovered more problems with the track.  There are holes in the pit lane around pitbox 4-8  If they were further up the pitlane we might get away with it, but were they are makes this track useless unfortunately.   So instead I have chosen to run the new Corvette C7R at the Salzburgring. Now that we don't need pit stops any more we can use this track again, it was quite fun in P45!

Next week we can do the M235i, if you guys want to.

Hey FatDan, I can't reply to your PM as your inbox is full as a boot! :D  So I will just reply here, hope that's cool!

Quote from: seanHey Dan.  If you have Ptracker installed in the \Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\apps\python\ folder, then when you load the game go to Options/General/ and look for the UI Modules section at the bottom.  Make sure Ptracker has a tick in the box.  Now, when your in game and in the car, move your mouse over to the right side of the screen to make the Apps section appear and scroll down to the bottom of the list and make sure the Ptracker icon is selected.

Now you should see the Ptracker interface on the screen, showing your name and some other bits.  If you double click the Ptracker App it will open up more options with several tabs across the top.  One of these is called "Setups/Players".  This is were you can send and receive setups.  The middle section allows you to receive setups that have been stored on the server.  Click the "Get" button next to the setup and it will be saved to your PC.  To close the PTracker options window, click on the Assetto Corsa Icon in the top left corner of the Ptracker Window.

Now you will want to apply the setup to your car:  To do this you go back to the pit and and you will the list of tracks in the setup section, to make the new setup show up you have to "refresh" the list.  To do that you simply select another track in the list and then reselect the Current track (Salzburgring this week) and the setup you saved will now be there for you to use.

I just uploaded a setup for you to test with.  It is nothing special, just the default setup with a bit less fuel.  Some other setups may show up here during the week from Neys/Deetz.  The default setup feels pretty good though.

PS the car we are running this week is from the Latest DLC pack, do you have it?  I hope so!

It would be cool to have Fatbob on too, the more racers the better!

If you have any more questions or any of the above it not clear, feel free to ask!

fatdan
