Phew, just about recovered from the adrenalin high, hustling that fire breathing monster around the tight streets of Monaco...with other cars on track last night.

Some great racing lads, fantastic combo Seany, & onto the next.

:narnar:

The times being done (regularly) last night would have seemed impossible at the start of the week !

Yeah, that was very fun!

I think Neys did the best time in the end with a low 1:27, very nice.

We are due for some thing a bit more sedate next week I reckon :D

Car: BMW E30 M3 DTM

Track : Nürburgring Sprint

==============================================

I'm gonna up the server to 15 slots from 10.  Last time we had more than 10 we had chronic lag, but I have adjusted a setting "USE_FLOW_CONTROL=1" to =0, some people have reported this helps...we shall see :) .  If anyone is on the server and notices anything strange you can post it here. Thanks!

Aquilifer

Definately more my kind of track. Just need to get bit more used to the sprint version. Where the sprint version deviates from the normal version I try to continue by memory with the normal track and bang hit the red tyres

I like the old M3 beamers. Somehow they look more like a car and I remember the late 80s and early 90s when DTM was on TV...BMW M3, Mercedes 190, then later Alfa Romeo and Opel Calibra.

Seany

Yeah I really love the look of the E30 M3 myself...when cars looked like cars and not electric shavers :D

Aquilifer

What!? No other comments. Hey, come on. This is a much better combo than the last one. The car is much friendlier to drive especially if a new race gamer (means racing!), if you go wide there is room so you don't ruin your car immediately and you can even overtake here. When trying to find something bad to say, I can only think that the rev counter should have red paint where the red line comes. :racing:

Seany

Have you got a time for us to try and beat yet? :)  If you put up a time I'll have a go and see what I can do!

It is a nice combo indeed and it seems that it is quite popular. Had some full grid races there. I'm looking forward to the times we will have better admin possibilities, though :)

I can offer a 1:36.1, but there are much faster times possible.

Aquilifer

Nice time! Is that with the default set? When I tried with the default set I got only something like 1:40.2

I have found the set making difficult because we don't have modes like the F9 in LFS so that you could see how the tires are behaving. I have a feeling they are overheating but not sure where or why.

Cheers! This was with a custom set. For setup creation I can warmly recommend the tyre temp app: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/danny-giusas-tyre-temperatures-v1-5-0-configurable-layout-normal-tiny.14054/

And our server is running stracker, so it is possible to send setups like in LFS. You need ptracker installed to get this working: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/wip-ptracker-v2-2-0-lap-and-race-tracker-send-setup-autosave-setup.13169/ ptracker is also available here as a download in the forum: http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?40071-ptracker-AIRIO-like-app-for-Assetto-Corsa

Both apps are definitely worth a try...

Ahh nice to hear Neys.  Were there more than 10 on when you were playing, and did it perform ok?

nice time too :)

PS if you have seen (or see) any obvious wreckers maybe we could add them to the black list?  We need logs to see Steam ID's though (I think).  Could Stracker log peoples Steam ID's? That would be handy (for us anyway)

Neys

Yeah we had up to 15 people online with no "flying cars around the track". So your fix seems to work well :)

And yes, unfortunately there were some (not that many) people on there with bad behaviour... I think the easiest way to get the steam guid atm is to type :/ENTRY in a browser (the http_port is configured in the server_cfg.ini). In the stracker database, the steam guid's are listed as well. I'm not sure if the black list is working, though. I think I heard some people mentioning that it is not working for pickup mode servers.

Seany

Good to hear warping is gone.  I'm nearly 100% sure blacklist is working for pickup mode now, so should be ok.

Aquilifer

That was a fun combo, but as the time passed I started to become more and more annoyed to the game. Had to leave because needed to cool down a bit before trying to sleep.

- The usability or user friendliness in AC is BS compared to LFS. Especially in net games
- Often you have no idea if you have to press some button in net games to continue
- After a race have no idea what lap times I did (only the end time)
- At some point the end result box got stuck so that only way to go qualifying was to reconnect
- The used set got reverted back to the default automatically (learned only after started to wonder bad handling)
- Track map is borked after the last patch and is off so much you cannot use if for anything. Not for learning a new track or observing other drivers in a race
- ...the above becomes more problematic as I noticed only now that the side mirrors were cosmetic in the car we used (more problem in the car rather than the game)

Yep, I was only saying to Neys yesterday, we really would like them to polish up the MP system a bit, there are still quite a few problems with admin possibilities and overall polish.  The way the game starts you on the grid with no option to leave is very bad, as is the annoying screen that blocks your view after the end of a race.  But still we have to remember it is early access and they are pretty good at fixing things eventually (sorry, I know this annoys people, but it is a big part of it, we are basically testers and the game technically is not out yet)

You have some valid points Aqui, If I where you I would post about your experience on their official forum, I would back you up with a post.  It's feedback like this that will help them prioritise these areas.

I'd advise to get Neys' Ptracker program, this really helps with the stuff we take for granted in LFS (send setups, visible position list and lap times etc).

Do you know about F11 to turn on the virtual rear view mirror?  I agree the mirrors in the racing E30 M3 seem as though they are more to pass a regulation than actually be used for seeing behind you :D
