Cartographics are the key to your money issues. I'm en route to Sol. I think we need to see how the multi ship and character engine works as having a ship at a home port 200L Y away is impractcal. Meet in 2 days in Abraham Lincoln? Wednesday 7pm GMT?

Okay, I'm a Kickstarter backer and was unable to download the game.

Got the Launcher from the forums and logged in and verified the launcher, unfortunately I only had the "Purchase" option.

Now there were some fun and games when they replicated the backer app data to Zaonce as during the lock out time I changed my email address. Somehow my account became disjointed but they supposedly sorted that out. Looks like it may have caused me to not be able to log into the server as an early backer.

They put the "Early Backer" element into my account on 7th Nov, so that part was working.

Anyway, raised a ticket and as of about 1 hour ago I got the "Install" button on the launcher. Now I need to get my X45 out of the cupboard and get that set up, my few minutes of trying with mouse and keyboard were painful to say the least.

Apparently I'm in a basic commodities and refuel station, Treshchov Port in orbit around Aiabiko 5, it says my Eagle is sat in the dock of the station orbiting Aibiko 6. So about 85lyr from Sol.

Need to set everything up, do the tutorials and work out how to earn some money with my 100cr and Sidewinder Mk2 before I jump into real space.

Just keep scanning every system you enter and you'll be able to collect Cartographic Data to sell in the stations for 500CR + per system. If you avoid combat, I.e. Full power to systems for max shields and then boost away with flight assist off and move randomly, from any NPC that interdicts you and activate Frame Shift as soon as it's cooled down, you'll survive. Don't engage enemies until you have practiced a bit. Get your eagle and sell it for the cash and keep the Sidewinder. By then you'll probably have over 50K CR so start trading towards Sol. When you get over 60K get a Hauler for 9.5ly jump range and all this time scan every system with your discovery scanner as its free money. You can sell your gun on the Hauler to reduce weight and increase jump range.

When you have the Hauler and 10k just plot a route to Sol and go for it. 8 jumps per full fuel tank, stay about 30% running dry ain't fun!

Basically if you can land, control power and avoid combat your can do anything in this game. Trading success comes with experience, combat is tricky, bulletin missions watch out for systems that need a permit like SIRIUS (cost me a 6k fine that one did)!

I tried a bit yesterday, but Elite crashed and I must have ruined something, because I could not log on again. I don't have time for anything today so that deal is off.

It was horrible for everyone last night mate. We can try another night. I found if you're 50LY away from SOL, 10 mins planning a route and 20 mins jumping will get you there in a Hauler, Sidewinder might take longer.
