The gamma sorted itself out (eventually) last night and after some long jumps, where at one point at got the audio-warning "main fuel tank drained" I managed to arrive in the SOL system and after a brief tour of the planets, docked at Abraham Lincoln station.

See you there tonight commanders!

albert

I understand that for the new recruits into the Gamma that getting to grips with the game and getting to Sol may be an issue. I will look for a system a bit closer to Cosi where most people seem to have spawned. Can yawl tell me in a PM your current location please?
Cheers, Bert

I will be burning and turning tonight hope to see you there guys

Work and kids permitting, I should be online tonight also :)
I have no idea where I will spawn though as I was away the whole weekend and am still recovering!

From what I read solo play is just basically the same universe with NPC's only in your game and you can switch between the two.

So do you recommend solo play unless there is something you need to meet up for.

Twisted, on first joining the Gamma can you do it into the Private Group so we can see if you spawn in the Cosi system like others? I've noticed those who join first time out in Solo or Open end up in a random place a long way off from 3 or 4 others who have ended up in that system.

All game modes exist in the same persisten universe.

Solo you are alone with NPCs.

Private Group (send a group request to join ALBERT) - same as solo but in the close vicinity of group members you are put into the same instance (supposedly but yet to be retested by us).

Open - same as private but you end up either 1) in the same instance as friends or 2) with random publics and friends.

I suggest you start playing the game after you've joined the group, so you spawn near others, as I am guessing that group members will spawn close to each other. I can accept your request to join the group at 5pm GMT when I get home. Toby you should do the same.

Unfortunately I had already popped into the real game yesterday to check where I was in relation to Sol.

Closer to Sol than Cosi, about half as far.

See you tonight.

Ended up leaving whilst in Beta Trianguli Australis - Lots of Ship parts there including FSD, Power Plant, Power Dist, Bulkheads. It's a super high population system with many stations wants to buy in Performance Enhancers at a high price.

Managed to trade up to a Hauler last night, so now I have 35,140 CR and I'm sitting in "Schiltberger Port" with 16T of shiny new (empty) cargo space.

Are we going to try and head for COSI or SOL?

I would suggest we find a system cluster with mixed economy and good trade routes and make it our "base of operations". That way the old hats can cash up and assist the newbies.

albert

I suggest Beta Trianguli Australis not just because I'm already there but it has all the upgrades we'd ever need, is close to Sol and is vast plus I've found no other as good in 3 days.

Alternatively I could get to Cosi quite quick as I have 20Ly jump distance now unladen.

"Beta Trianguli Australis" or 2nd Australian triangle it is then! See you there.

As the title suggests Gamma 1.02 is on its way soon. The servers will be down for at least an hour from 2.30PM GMT, after that we'll reopen space and let you loose again!

The full change log is below:

-    Fix kinematic soft lock loading game
-    Fix for softlock on shutdown regarding fog volumes
-    Fix possible memory leak in the system map
-    Add in some missing metadata from populated authored systems far outside the usual generation range
-    Missing backer system ‘Pepper’ added
-    Correct the station ID for the station in 17 Draconis
-    Deeper telemetry to diagnose what/why we're getting stuck entering the game in certain circumstances
-    When the server has too many stellar forge request, bounce it back so the game can try a different server
-    Fix for lighting not appearing in the right eye on stereoscopic modes

-    Handle the case where directional lights are removed while processing the view culling data
-    Improve MTU discovery handshake
-    Ensure location s are not sent if they are no longer valid
-    Improve upnp clean up code
-    Provide feedback telemetry when system data is received from the server which is either internally inconsistent, or inconsistent with the game's own data
-    Additional telemetry to help get to the bottom of why some players get stuck entering the game.

Was just nipping over to LHS 3447 to pick up my Eagle, well to sell it. When the update happened. 120,000 Ls from the station I need to get to, they never made this bloody easy for me.
