The Port - I can't remember it's name and it was something of a collective effort.

I installed Minecraft but oddly couldn't connect to the server, not sure why. maybe I am running the wrong version 1.8.9?

As mentioned happy to pop back in but I can't get onto teh server at the moment. I'll twiddle with knobs and push buttons and see what happens.

i think it is still 1.80...

but here is a thought if we downgrade it to 1.79 and get the map back, what issues would it cause, cant really find anything on google to see if there would be any issues, maybe the nether would reset,but hey if that happens cant we just use a back up to recoever. And to be honest id play it more if there was a map still and it was the kids who asked for 1.8 and they havent been on recently

Just spent the last couple of hours researching and searching for ways to get the map working. If you remember it broke when Microsoft (the new owners of MC) issued a DCMA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request to Bukkit/Spigot etc. as their versions of the MC server (which allow plugins such as map, lockable chests etc.) infringed copyright. Bukkit, Spigot et al all obeyed of course and, like everyone else running a server with plugins, we were cut-off from the binaries we needed and had to resort to a vanilla server.

So now some good news ...

I think I've sourced everything I need to get us back to where we were before the MS axe fell

I will spend the next couple of evenings trying to get it all working so expect the MC server to be offline for a while. I will backup everything before starting so worse case scenario is we run as we are now.

I am going to go for the 1.8.7 build which is the latest version as of now. Please be aware that it is very unlikely that our server will ever go beyond this version so upgrade your client at your peril.

If this all works then flying should be a breeze

You'll have to have a ride on the Atlantian wooden Roller Coaster, I still need to finish part2 of that.

I can confirm that Oldie has managed to install a 'fly' mod into Minecraft which will allow us to run fly-pasts. Yay and thanks!.

I'll collate the list of sites and then post up a poll for some Thursday nights and we'll get this off the ground (literally).
