Those of you on last Sunday will know we tried out a new mission of mine.  The mission is very simple, a foot patrol through a town to reassure the locals.

However, the code used to spawn some enemy didn't quite work correctly and ran 7 times instead of once, oops.  Was kind of funny seeing how many we were up against.  I've now fixed that issue (i forgot one line of code).

After we were all slaughtered someone mentioned they liked the fact we had civilians wandering about and said i should add more, so i have.

However, i didn't want to add more just for the sake of it so I've also added the ability to interact with them.  This means we can give them instructions, stop them, question them, search them, ask to see their ID and even arrest them.

Mission: Foot Patrol
Patrol the town and eliminate any enemy found whilst protecting the locals.
Intelligence reports that three possible insurgent leaders are hiding out in the town among the local populous.  You are to search and question the locals to try and find these insurgent leaders.  You are to capture them alive!

Sorry about the glitches with the civilian script last night, it didn't perform at all well.  I am fairly confident that it is the root of all the issues, civilians leaving the town and even ending up in our base, our kits resetting them selves and the capture tasks not firing properly.

I will see if i can find a more stable replacement or redo the mission with different tasks.

SPREAD OUT YOU IGNORANT CLOWNS.

Ahem, sorry. It's a Good MissionĂ¢,,¢ Twobad, if the glitches can be easily fixed it's a keeper.

I really, really don't have any problem at all with loadouts being assigned to players and being unchangeable. In fact, why not do away with the ammo box entirely?

As long as we have a Medkit, and the equipment required to complete the tasks, I would be quite happy using whatever I'm given by the mission builder.

I do agree but I also feel that sometimes it's the same people time and time again which take the non-standard weapons. I've watched as people hare off to the particular ammo box to grab the one sniper rifle or the one gun with a better scope. It's the same people each time and it does get tiresome.

Just my two cents.

I have a suggestion for this Pen, I'll post it in the Admin forum.....

Version 2.0

So i decided to removed the Civilian Interaction script and wrote my own.  It didn't have all the bells and whistle of the other script but was it very clean and easy to use.  However, although working perfectly on a local server, on the dedicated server the civilians wouldn't stop.  Seem the function used to stop on a local server doesn't work on dedicated, there are ways of doing it but not something i could spend the time sorting.

Back to the Civilian Interaction script.  I think i've managed to fix the issues and the task when the right guys are arrested now seem to fire ok.

British Uniform script.  If you recall we had a couple of issues with this, no backpacks being loaded, then once we had got them from the ammobox and loaded up on ammo and FAKs the uniforms reset themselves and we lost the updated kit we'd just made.  Again this was an issue due to the dedicated server.  I have edited the script and think i have managed to remove both these issues.  There is one issue left which affects JIP players where they will get a standard uniform rather than the British one.  However, this is easily fixed, don't be late to the party!

A special thank you to Nuka and Cheese Puff for helping me with testing on our server
