Another mod worth looking at

Primitive Plus is now running on the test server.  I can see some graphic updates but think we'll need to start with a new toon for it to work correctly.

Well here we go:

Did a fly around the map today, the map is big with multiple layers. for example a mountain can also have an inside with more then 1 level.
Map looks awesome and there is more then enough room for a lot of people.

Main problem for now is the real lack of stone and metal. You will have more then enough wood but stone and metal are sort of rare.

What i also found and that just popped up in my head is that the map has a lot of very similar area's with herbivore's etc.
Which is ok but that is something i noticed. Havn't seen all of the island as there is also a lot of places well hidden and many layers of levels.

The map has his own version of the flying Dalaran (WoW players will know that) which is freaking awesome! and has my name on it for a building place.
But also is for now the best place found to get metal etc.





Prim mod:

Mod got active today and had a run with it.

Mod isn't complete is missing stuff and a lot of stuff you can't even make because of the missing parts. Also again a lot of high non primitive stuff is avail to be learned, although sometimes blocked because of your level.
Or stuff you are able to make but then not aloud to place anywhere.

Also what i noticed is the mats needed for some stuff are somewhat insane inc very much time consuming.
Example: Wooden foundation - 40/60 wood 40 thatch and 15 fibers (out of my head)
Prim mod version of a wooden foundation - 95 wooden planks  40 thatch and 15 fibers.

Now you need a lumber station to get those planks. 1 wood is 2 planks. But to get your 95 planks you need 5 stations or wait 5 mins to just to be able to craft 1 foundation afterwards.

The lumber foundation is meant to be harder to construct. Its better than the base wooden structure that would normally be used in ark. Much tougher and prettier. Part of the vision of the project is that a more realistic approach to building has been taken. This means that many of the items that were made of metal (some tools and structures) now might contain metal, but aren't made entirely of them. Tools for example are now tiered in order to allow for better progression. It's not meant to be an easy ride. This in turn give you access to other building materials such as clay, brick and cement.

Granted it might not be for everyone though, hence why we're testing.

I'm sure some of it is lost in translation, but reading it makes you sound like...... Ok I've reconn'ed the center, found the best place to build and I'm claiming it as my own.

The dalaran 'is' the best place to build but frankly a response such as: 'The Dalaran' is the best place and one which would be great for a community project and build should have been what you posted.

I was not the only one to raise an eyebrow at this comment at the LAN and I fear such comments are going to get us into an other 'Giga-tame' scenario.

This is a COMMUNITY game and the role of the leader is to enhance the gameplay for the community, not the self.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I've already had people saying they're worried we'd move to a new map which was sprung upon them and they spawned to already find the best places 'bagged' by those in the know.

Let's try not to alienate the few players we have left.

We currently have some admins and some members asking for changes but let me make it very clear that *nothing* will happen unless specifically requested by Grim - the appointed Game Leader.

So. Could I please request that you all get together on TS and work together to formulate a way forward for Ark that at least tries to accommodate the wishes of the membership? Whitey and/or I will be more than happy to set up the server/servers however you decide but this has to be a directive not a suggestion.

When i see all the posts on the forum from the last few days we have to ask ourselves etc. if we are going with a second server or replace the current one.

I would go for a second server open to the community and if it shows that the current aint used anymore etc. make a decission later on to take that one down.

I agree, seems sensible as long as we have the resources to run 2 servers?

I'll try and get on TS tonight but for the most part I'm inline with Sith/Gala regarding the finer details/server set-up.

Might be worth waiting until a few more patches have been released, most of the last few patches were to fix the new map, now it;s officially part of the release cycle.

Or do we wait until they fully integrate primitive mod, otherwise we'll all just spread over the map again, it does need that extra challenge or it's just the same old game on a new map waiting for the next dino release.

I rather see it as an oppertunity in the future to increase the lifespan again, start with the new map now, once prim+ is optomised say, hey want a new challenge? decide which server gets the wipe and start a new. People are really keen for ANYTHING as long as its a challenge...
