Another mod worth looking at

I think I speak for most of us here as well as the players when I say we should be looking at this sooner rather than later - like say, the weekend. I think people have a hint that the map will be wiped, I think this is why the majority have stopped playing. It might be useful to run both servers temporarily, then stop the other next week to give people chance to 'say good bye' as it were, and maybe summon the broodmother. Does anyone else have an idea what people have been saying?

OK. I'm really up for doing this ASAP.

How about:

1. Announce that we're moving to The Centre. The Island will be turned off but stored. (Whilst I appreciate your comments about running them in parallel we've learned from previous experience that all this does is divide the playerbase and both then die).
2. We have a finale event on The Island and summon the Dragon and Bloodmother.
3. We give people one week to get off their butts to d/l an offline version of The Center so there can be no accusations of 'those in the know' get first dibs on locations.
4. The Center goes live. The centre floating island is declared off-limits for individual builds and is reserved for a community base / harvesting.

I'll defer to your experience regarding splitting the player base - sounds sensible. This sounds really good. I second this plan.

Yeah perfect Pen, honestly I dont think its even worth summoning the final bosses though, they just walk over everything in-game atm from I've seen on videos. Unless its an intentional slaughter of everything we own lol

I can throw the announcement out if you want. I don't mind. I'll do it whenever - sooner rather than later though. Draft follows:

Hey guys. I know everyone has been hankering for some news regarding the Ark server so here it is. After some discussion the admins have decided that it would be best if we make a shift to 'The Centre' map. We're hoping that this will take place in about a weeks time to give people the chance to get the map downloaded and to take the time to say a fond farewell to their creations/dinos on the existing map. This week should also give a chance to get together to summon the brood mother if you so choose to (anyone who has seen the videos will basically know its a death-sentence though!)

When the map does go live, the central floating island will be reserved for community projects and harvesting only. There will no 'claiming' of this area! The usual PvP rules will apply: there is no PvP unless pre-organised.

We all are really thankful for your patience and we hope that it will be well worth the wait!

How about we run a E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) on Thursday and Friday followed by the map change next Tuesday (which works for Whitey)

Shortish notice I know but I think people are chomping at the bit.

E.L.E. event Thursday would be broodmother followed by the Dragon on the Friday with what's left.

If there's no strong objections to this (??) I'll post up tomorrow with the plan.
