Help a guy out... been pulling what little hair i have left out over monitors.

New graphics card = new monitor

But what to buy....

Im looking at 2k gaming as 4k gaming is still a push using a single gpu even with latest gtx 1080.

Monitors im looking at are 27"+

Examples of which are

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B017DG09WM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468993167&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=Acer+XB271HU&dpPl=1&dpID=41puywezheL&ref=plSrch

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B017DG09WM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468993749&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=Acer+XB271HU&dpPl=1&dpID=41puywezheL&ref=plSrch

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-S277HK-wmidpp-White-Ultra/dp/B00RN08ELC

Or even go for a 4k monitor

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B018MYTF4W?keywords=XB271HK&pc_redir=T1&qid=1455872434&sr=8-1&tag=amazon0606-20

Although if funds allowed id just buy

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01DOIFV12/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

And then question id like clarified ... does gsync really matter? As its adding £150-200 onto some of these monitors. (I have read what it does just lookibg for ppls opinions) and also on any monitors theyve seen/recommend

Cheers

I recall tut has a g-sync setup. He's best to respond.

I saw it in action a couple of lans ago and it was purdy.

the ultra-wide monitors I saw at the last lan were very tasty. I heard talk of a cheaper (all things being relative) option - think it was more like half the price of the ultra-wide Acer you linked but I can't remember for sure! :flirty:

This is a previous topic about G-Sync with comments from guys who own Swift screens.

Some QC issues have dogged the latest Swift models, and corner bleed was the main source of negative reviews. Not something you really want for 600 quid of monitor.

No problem, I've never seen or experienced G-Sync of FreeSync so I'd wait for real world feedback but my impression is that G-Sync is giving you performance at a far higher refresh rate through hardware in the monitor and the 4K versions right now are rather expensive. The older models like Asus PG278Q seem to the raved about but the newer model I looked into had bleed all over the place.

I'd like to get one 4K monitor to replace a 27" 1440P Asus (non-G-Sync) but I'm not finding anything that impresses me yet review wise. Maybe LG, BenQ or Samsung FreeSync is the way forward?

no peanuts

I'm v.happy with my PG279Q ROG Swift 27" 2560x1440 IPS G-Sync 60/120/144/165Hz

Likewise. 2 years on and I've had no problems with it at all.

G-Sync is lovely, produces a very smooth picture - though you do need to keep the frame rates reasonably high to get the best out of it.

I think you were looking at a 4K option for use with your GTX 1080 Milli. This Acer Predator XB271HK seems to be getting better image quality reviews than the ASUS 27" 4K PG27AQ. I think so far its the best 4K option I can find with G-Sync and 27"<=. It was the one you listed on the first post. The review below has a lot of good things to say about it but it. Same price as the ASUS though.

I'm after a new monitor guys, need some help.  looking at the posts above, it seems the PG279Q ROG Swift 27" is a good shout, however for some reason i am leaning towards one of these super widescreen things! which look awesome!!  i saw DZ's, Whiteys and Tuna's at the LAN and was quite impressed.  I have searched for each one and the price difference seems to differ quite substantially so was wondering if you guys could give me some pro's and cons?

Before you get excited, make sure your GPU is up to driving one of those beasts....

Gibbo has one of these, I have the freesync model. Very good screen, size doesn't always matter ;)
