I did successfully connect on server yesterday for a few minutes, just to try out and to see what is like. I also installed TeamSpeak, but I didn’t had time for testing it or play the game more. Anyhow, unfortunately my earphones & mic was not working properly (kind of broken), and I will buy a new one. Have some older headset, and some separate mics, will try that also…

Now I have few questions as a new kid in town… well on planet :D

Just for my better starting, what are the general DMW rules in game? Lots of thing are changed in Alpha 4, especially in multiplayer.

- Are you/we playing together from single base, or separate in clan, or everybody is for himself but against aliens.

- What’s with ore resources, as I landed two meteorites fall down somewhere. Are anything visible (in personal radar range) or - fist to get claim ownership, and become invisible for others? Something like that is introduced in a4.

- What are the general settings for the world on server? I can 'feel' it is on hard, but is there some extra hard stuff added (small amount of ore, extra bug spawn, etc.). Can’t see that anywhere.

Our server admin is OldBloke, the game is not an adopted game yet, we're running it on trial.

As for difficulty, that all depends on where you spawned, the falling of meteors makes me think it's probably Omnicron, bold move because the atmosphere isn't breathable. I'm not sure what the current resource levels are like on Akua, so you may be there.

We're playing the game as PvE although the other planets are still set to PvP, we may change that. It's up to you how you want to play, I enjoy doing a lot of things myself to get the most out of the game and help others out if they want, but not too much :devil:, some like to team up and work together from the off and just enjoy the building side of things.

To force you to "enjoy" the building side of things we have disabled the ability to import blueprints or use the factory. It makes for much more entertaining builds.

Raising the levels increases the number of drones whilst also making the local wildlife a lot harder to kill. Resources are never an issue because once a mine is exhausted it will send down a meteor to replace it. Meteors will despawn after a short while if nobody is on planet and so you'll normally get the same messages when you rejoin an empty world.

Omnicron's drone population has been greatly reduced, I believe Akua still has a reasonable population though. I'm not sure if we've taken over any alien bases this time around, the ones that have guns anyway.

Hopefully they will work on the alien AI and make them try to retake their outposts in the future and spawn more drones to replace the ones we have downed.

So, after finding a post from Sparky on the Empyrion forums pimping out your server, I signed up. Finally worked out that Post #1 in the passwords list is by default on the last page (confused the life out of me...)

It was an entertaining first day on the Empy server, I spawned in and was promptly almost gang banged by 3 alien insects, several night raptors and a couple of plant monsters. This left me at level 5, but with zero ammunition left, so after I scavenged the bottom of the lake for seaweed, I started out hunting for iron/magnesium deposits, whereupon I came across an unsubdued Epsilon base that promptly blew the crap out of me and twice more while trying to retrieve my backpack.

Once this was achieved, I find myself in a promethium deposit and plonked down the survival constructor, only to see it vanish in front of my eyes! This led to a suicide pact with myself and a fresh start in order to get a new constructor. Unfortunately, the pod spawned on the opposite side of the planet to where I topped myself, in a tropical forest in the dark. Luckily though I got a new chainsaw and some biofuel, and the chainsaw does chop the spiders up pretty quickly.

After 10 minutes running around the planet, I get back to my backpack and retrieve the contents and set out to mine myself enough for a simple base inside a mountain top, complete with an enclosed underground hangar. This got me up to level 10, and I set out to build myself an SV. Finding out the blueprint system was unavailable was a bit of a blow, as I'm not terribly creative. I did however manage to create a ship that not only flies well, but doesn't look like a box with crap wings bolted on the side. I just need to texture/colour it up now.

I finished up the night by finding the mid and back sections of the MS titan, and managed to mine out all the cargo containers and quite a few of the thrusters to disassemble, which gives me the T2 drill. I then looked at the clock and found it was just past 3am, so I was a little late for work this morning :D

I'll get TS installed tonight and set-up. I have to admit that the server was really quiet last night, didn't see anything in chat, so maybe I was just all alone like a true survival game should be to start with.

Next plan is to get myself up to the Sathium 'roids and harden my little ship up, then it's payback time for that damn Epsilon base....

It looks like somebody new tried yesterday evening to join (unsuccessfully) on Omicron. I found his full basic backpack (next to the another empty one) around midnight as I was returning to my home base before logging-off.
Or….. was it a Dilli’s one, mysteriously teleported to Omicron from distant land of Akua (there was also like 5 wood logs inside, and I picked up saved everything) :g:

Setup on game server is not all that difficult, XP points are obtained very-very fast and you are on level 20 in no time after some mining & hunting. Also Aliens & Drones are nowhere to be found, but those first moments with lots of aggressive bugs & animals can be really hard. I quickly died 2-3 times on first logging, and also discovered ‘the hard way’ that now in Alpha 4 diving in to water is not safe â€" they can all see, attack & kill you!

Especially hard for newcomer can be landing in dark with ore depositories already discovered by some existing Faction â€" then they are much harder to find. Before I was called to join Omicron [OMG] faction I could not find any Iron driving around on motorcycle, but after joining you can see everything they already ‘own’. Boys came to my rescue, and saved me, they lend me some iron/copper/cobalt, which I later repay them back. :yahoo:

@ Dilli â€" press ‘B’ to see who is in the same game on server with you and where (I discovered that last night â€" I knew about ‘scoreboard’ from before, but this location thing is great â€" I went to visit Liberator in Omicron orbit fighting Shipyard, he didn’t need my help and I circled around a couple of times and returned back down to dismantle Epsilon Radar for steel plates for my big ship)

I’m grinding a lot last couple of days to catch up with others, already made 2 SV (small vessel), one is for exploring/transporting and other is for combat. This evening I will probably try to build my CV. I did raid some alien bases (on Omicron & moon) but for some reason there are almost only cheap white containers with junk in them, so no zascosium or erestrum ingets (green & red brown ones) and I only found 3 power coil thingies to build one Advanced Constructor â€" but still no rail guns for my SV.

Now is my turn to help others. When you join server and land on Omicron and have some serious problems â€" hit ‘coma’, it is global chat, and call for help â€" if I’m later today in game building my spaceship I will fly over in my brand new Kosmobus SV, and you will get a seat by the window. Drop me a note in PM if you like for timing.

BTW, is there someone interested in raid on Abandoned Factory tonight? I did knock out door or two on entrance there to look in first few containers, but didn’t go down there to have all the fun by myself.

Sorry for ‘longish’ writings on this wall, but black space void is calling us all!

These are my builds, it took some time and some experiments to make them fly properly â€" things are definitely not same in Alpha 4 as they were before, regarding flying machines and engines, not at all!

Nope, it wasn't me, I spawned into Akua, and as the post above yours, I still had a bit of a tough start. The Red/Grey ship looks smart, I've yet to try the wing blocks yet, as I was rapidly running out of ores for my build. I'm probably going to texture/colour it tonight if I don't get sucked into starting on the Ark server to get a headstart on Thursdays community play.

Once I get the SV done, I'll stick a screenie up, I'm pretty happy with it considering I normally use the workshop blueprints or build in creative and blueprint, and building in survival is a new thing.

One simple tip from me regarding mining for ore in early game â€" when you want to mine in longer single run far away from your base in ‘hostile’ land. Always take with you your starting mobile Constructor and Filler/Flatten tool, beside working lights and of course your drill!

You can put mobile constructor in your hole, or outside, so that you can pop out to hunt and make sausages during work â€" also with F&F tool you can close entry hole, or make it much smaller. Animals and bugs can drop in and attack from behind.

Couple of bigger runs like this and you are good to go, later recycling enemy bases can be enough.

So, I've just been and harvested a huge amount of Sathium and upgraded my SV to hardened steel. Colourised the thing too.
