i agree and everyone left so early on sunday, i think its a sign of us getting even older.

We had to get to the planes. It was a bit short tho, it looks like I was travelling more then being at the LAN (bar not included   ).

Maybe we could look at that for the next LAN. I always take the Monday off work to get over the weekend.

Obviously it would cost more for hotel rooms on the Sundayand we might even have to pay extra for the function room?

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Stryker

we could still pack up the games room albeit at about 6pm on the sunday, so all in all we get a few more hours, then just hang out drink and chill the rest of the evening then saunter off home on the monday at any time we see fit....

so for the cost of one extra night on our hotel bill we get as good as a full day sunday, that winds down to help us recover then drive home fresh as daisies on the monday  :D

Dosnt really matter how many of us are doing that, although I'd not feel like I'd missed the time for some socialising with those that do stay.

It is a good idea ;)

We can always come up with new idea's and see if they are alright or not

I think the current format will stay for the time being as it's tried and tested (some people having 'tested' it far more seriously than others  ;) ).

Remember that the kit needed to run the LAN travels home with the respective owners which makes later finishes dependant on their agenda.

Personally, I like the current free format. If you wanna game - then game. If you wanna get slaughtered - stick with TL

I know we took some stick from Silly (when he slated the lack of organisation of the particular LAN he attended) but, apart from the single team-based compo, people are basically free to do their own thing.

What do others think?

I personally wasn't in the mood for gaming all weekend... the only time i took an interest was when we had a competition. Had a cracking laugh most of the time.

It was sunny though.

And they did have Bud on tap.

And it was sunny.

Did i mention the bud?

I think the sun had a lot to do with the lazy style of LAN V. LAN IV was more structured it seemed and there seemed to be more gaming.

Maybe it's a natural consequence of everyone getting to know everyone else better at we spend more time socialising and lesss time playing.

Personally I'd like to see something about midway between the two LANs. Maybe a bigger CS compo on Saturday afternoon and a quick LFS or UT deathmatch on Sunday morning.

As to Sunday nights, if enough people wanted a third night it could be fun if enough of us stayed.  As Stryker says it would be a nice way to wind down at the end of the weekend. The Sunday packup is a bit quick. We finished the last map on BFV and withing about 30 minutes the room was nearly empty :)

Either way the LAN was ablast and I have no real complaints.

well if it is raining outside i have more time and energy to play some games.
But if we have some sun then i'm very lazy to do things i like to be outside for so long i can be outside.

But i think everyone has that.

GhostMjr

You wouldn't say that if you were there hawk loads of ppl were playing all day!

I must admit i did have a few breaks and had a bud or two with duv zok and brass at the bar which was ok but i think many thought pressured to play as others were. The game selection was good unfortunately we didn't play WC3 and different maps but these are mere fundamentals of a g8 event which was great from red, myself and Dark's age to doorman and brass's age. In all we had a g8 laugh but we mustn't think to harshly of how we played or how long we played for. after all we are friends and a small cs community that as we grow older will look back and laugh at benny's shirt selection and his comments which were so funny i almost wet myself. Seeing you all was a pleasure especially the ones i owned at cs :) but overall it was great so i can't complain

Over and out

Balls to games, I was quite happy drifting in and out. Got drunk, laughed, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
