On his posting frequency or his play on the servers?

On the servers he has actually calmed down a bit.  On the forums I have nto sent him a PM yet.  Do you want me to?

I'm not sure if there is a need or not. Agreed that his posts tend to be in the "me too", "completely unintelligible" or the "why did you bother posting that" groups. However, he is enthusiastic and at least polite. Lets face it, over the years there have been a lot of posts in those categories by a lot of people.

My personal solution for this is to not click on the "last post" link for a topic if his name is against it    I just go read everyone else's inane comments instead ;)

BB has a point he is nice enough, but his posts either don't make sense or just don't need posting. I have been tempted to edit his posts so that people can understand what the hell he is on about.

The thing is you have to read his posts just in case someone has posted before him that actually has something to say.

...and to be fair, Smite has a good point too. It is very hard to understand what the hell he is trying to say sometimes. However, I would be a bit cautious about that as the poor chap may suffer from Dyslexia or similar and could be trying his best. (he could also be completely barking but...)

Anyway, I'm not sure on the best approach. The guy is pleasant enough, his posts can be unintelligible, he is young and enthusiastic. Maybe give it a while and see how it goes and we could maybe PM him individually if we find a post that is "off the boil" just saying that we appreciate his posts but when we struggle to follow them then we will be unable to ever get to the (probably valid) point he is trying to make.

My 2p :)

Dr Sadako

I agree with Smite. I think we should consider throwing him out.

Adding to Smite pile of worries is the question he asked me the other day on MSN - "if I applied for Charlie do you think I would get in?".  I politely declined to comment saying that I could not possibly speak for other admins as there are many and they each have their own opinion.  I just didn't mention that they all felt the same way at the moment  :P

I think throwing him out for being an irritant is a wee bit harsh, but maybe hosing him down first would be a good idea.

Sorry but I am with Sadako and Smite on this one. I had to pull him up recently about posting about pirated software in the public part of the forum and his response was "opps did I do it again." He is not the sort of person who represents dMw in any way. I get the feeling that that is why cigs got rid of him although I haven't asked them. I had to sit next to him at the last lan and when i was sat at my pc he did nothing but annoy me.

OK, so we have a list of gripes for me and OB to attend to.  Please put them here in writing so that we can consider how to proceed.  Demoting is a big step and I am not sure we are ready to take it, but OB and I will discuss the options once we have a list of  'complaints' to go back to him with,

No way should he be thrown out.

I suggest you all re-read the posts in this section (some very good points made by BB) and hopefully we can all agree to educate and coach him into being a better, more mainstream member. Let's all make a real effort to concentrate on feeding him constructive feedback instead of snide remarks (me included).

I would have to agree with OldBloke, chucking him out is way too harsh. He is by no means the only person who has had his posts to Movies and Games forums dumped into Compost Corner, and what is or isn't OK is often a matter of personal opinion. I've even inadvertently posted a dodgy link before myself (although I think I deleted it before anyone else read it  )

As to his moronic posts I'd suggest it would be best to just ignore anything he authors. I don't read a few threads due to subject matter and/or author and I'm quite sure I'm not on some peoples chosen reading list myself.

His antics on the servers are a bit more worrying but as and when I've seen him there he does seem to be able to reign himself in.

We had a long debate about setting a minimum age for the clan and I guess this is the result of being an open and inclusive community ?
