Don't care what you've spent on mice/mats ... if you turn 180 in an inch you're gonna hit Jack Shit. :P

QuoteYou guys sound like you have it easy. My biggest problem comes with any CS map that has 3 or more consecutive right turns. As my computer is near the righthand side of my desk, I invariably end up not being able to complete ALL the right turns as I reach the edge of both my desk and my mouse mat. I have to do 270 degree turns left instead when this happens.

I reckon the problem will be licked soon though because I've called the Dilbert IT Helpdesk and he said that the problem could be solved with the purchase of a £100 mouse mat extension pad. I'm gonna get SWMBO to buy me one for Christmas :D
Lower your sensitivity TL/Smite. It takes a lot of getting used to but you will find it easier to aim at distance. Top players have it so low that a 180 degree turn is almost the width of the mouse mat.[/b]
Oldie, have you ever seen the 'Parrot sketch'?  Well my post was a rehash of a Dilbert cartoon (applied to the CS environment, naturally) that achieved an equal level of fame within the IT community.  The smilie was meant to give it away as humour, sorry

personally I use an IR mouse, so I don't have to worry about a stick mouse mat...

Gandalf

I just use a ms intellimouse explorer, in win xp pro WITH mouse acceleration ON!

I know it sounds wierd, but when someone hits me, I can jerk the mouse in the relevant direction and it whips round as fast as speedy gonzalez on speed and then, u just move the mouse nice and slow and the precision is freaky.

Took a bit to get used to it, but I can't play without it on now.

QuoteI'm not sure it's any better than any other mat but it cost £30 so I had to have it. I still can't believe what a prat I am, I mean, £30 for a mouse mat. My missus would have me committed if she knew.

And I cringe at spending £50 on a mouse and claw pack! £30 for a mouse mat you must be mad or it must be good! I have a £10 Kensington gel pack thing with a nice little lump for the wrist. It's black so works a treat with my Kensington Optical elite mouseand is made of that soft stocking type material.

BUT the main thing I think is the best bet for mouse related stuff.... use the PS/2 connection and pump the sample rate up to 200 reports/ sec in your XP or Win2K mouse settings. It will make you much more accurate, or more correctly you are aiming close to where you think you are. A USB connected mouse does not have a look in becasue of it's fixed (and lower) sample rate.

Sounds like just the thing. I had a look at their website and didn't see anything 'teflon'. Do you also run it with the slippy tape on the mouse?
