Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

Both! I was discussing the key-game-pad-extra-thingie discussed in the other forum ( http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=768 ) with Albert. I thought you lot could tell your setups and one might see some advantages and change.

Mouse = look/shoot
Keyboard = move

Boshhhhtieee

CiM

Hmm... I guess I'm a weirdo then:

Mouse:
XY axis: Look
RMB: Move forward
LMB: Fire Primary
MMB: Radio command "Taking fire, need assistance!"
MWheel/Z-axis: Unbound.  Not good changing weapons accidentally in the middle of a firefight.

Left to right, bottom to top, keyboard:
L CTRL: Nightvision goggles - would probably be vocoms if I had vocoms.
L ALT: Walk backwards
Spacebar: Use

L Shift: Walk
Z: Jump
X: Duck
C: Fire Secondary
V: Reload
B: Pistol

S: Swim down
D: Step left
F: Step right
G: Knife
H: Flashlight
J: Spray logo

Q: Last weapon used
W: Swim up
E: Primary weapon
R: Grenade(s)
T: say
Y: say_team

Radio commands:
F1: "Affirmative/Roger That"
F2: "Negative"
F3: "Cover me!"
F4: "Need backup."

F5: "Enemy spotted."
F6: "I'm in position."
F7: "Reporting in." (I use this when I've just used "say_team" something and folk need to know where I am.)
F8: "Sector clear."

F9: "say_team Bomb's here"
F10: buys Kevlar Vest & Helmet, 2x FBGs, 1x HEG, and a Defuse Kit
F11: buys Desert Eagle and Kevlar Vest
F12: Changes name to "AFK--CiM" and brings up the chooseteam menu

An arrow key config (like sheepy's) seems a little bit wasteful since the keys aren't packed so closely on that part of the keyboard.  OTOH, using the numpad seems very sensible - I just find it very uncomfortable to have my left hand on the right hand side of the keyboard.

Also, I find it easier to move my fingers two tiers up the keyboard than to move them one tier up and down - that is, I rest my fingers on ZXCV during normal play and reach most of my other controls by moving fingers up and/or right.

Anyway.  I seem to have successfully wasted a fair chunk of this evening now.

Hold mouse in right hand and whizz it about the desk, thump various keys at random, die, watch other folk play. Easy! Counterstrike, I love it. :D

you been watching me play ?(stealing my set up) :D
Me,I\'m just a lawnmower - you can tell me by the way I walk.

You guys sound like you have it easy.  My biggest problem comes with any CS map that has 3 or more consecutive right turns.  As my computer is near the righthand side of my desk, I invariably end up not being able to complete ALL the right turns as I reach the edge of both my desk and my mouse mat.  I have to do 270 degree turns left instead when this happens.

I reckon the problem will be licked soon though because I've called the Dilbert IT Helpdesk and he said that the problem could be solved with the purchase of a £100 mouse mat extension pad.  I'm gonna get SWMBO to buy me one for Christmas :D

Get a boomslang then you only have to move 1" from left to right..

Please bare in mind that you will not be able to play cs for about a month until you get used to it....

Intelli is there coz me missus cant use the slang

OldBloke

Lower your sensitivity TL/Smite. It takes a lot of getting used to but you will find it easier to aim at distance. Top players have it so low that a 180 degree turn is almost the width of the mouse mat.

Lower it ive just got used to using it at an inch never mind going back to the whole mat......bloody hell id be knackered by the end of the night

Doorman

I've still got a Boomslang if anyone wants it. I gave it a long time but couldn't hack it. I even got one of those glass mouse mats (more money than sense)

Glass mat any good?
i have tried about 4 mats and continue to go back to the boomslang mat.

/me Should'nt spend more money must have another mat....noooooo dont spend must havvvveee..

I have 2 spare Boomslangs just in case this one packs up....
let me explain.. i did'nt buy these my first one packed up(wheel clicking itself) and they sent me another one without asking for old one back the new one they sent did also not work (right click sticking) so they sent another and lowandbehold i lent it to JAS and he found a piece of plastic stuck under the right mouse button. JAS didnt like it and i now have it back so there thought you might like an expanation as to why i have over £300 pounds worth of mice ahhh but if i add up my other mice. a intelli explorer £35 and a intelli explorer wireless £40 and 2 normal microsoft mouse at £10 each i have £385 worth of mats. shall i go into mats nah best not 8O  8O  8O  8O  8O

Doorman

I'm not sure it's any better than any other mat but it cost £30 so I had to have it. I still can't believe what a prat I am, I mean, £30 for a mouse mat. My missus would have me committed if she knew.
