I have for the past year used a headset known as the pc 150 from senneheiser. I bought the headset on christmas day last year and have had to replace it due to a fault twice .However the sound quality and comfort is superb. As pc gamer reviewed it with a very high score at the beginning of last year (over 90%) i was very proud   Overclockers want some £45 now and i paid over £60 last year but it is still available cheaper on websites such as ebay!

Sennheiser PC150 Binaural Headset (SP-002-SN)
- Ideal for PCs, laptops, voice recognition & Internet telephony
- Also for CD, MP3, DVD
- Compatible with all major sound cards
- In-line volume control
- Microphone mute
- Noise cancelling microphone
- Super-comfortable, padded headband
- Lightweight design for extended use
- 2 x 3.5 mm jacks for PC sound cards

The newer version of my headset has usb compatibility and an integrated soundcard however it is still very expensive and so not in my opinion worth the extra

Sennheiser PC155 USB Pro-Gaming Headset (SP-001-SN)
The supreme gaming tool for excellent sound. You play hard and need a headset that can keep up. The pc 135 USB gives you true-to-life sound for superior gaming performance. The in-line volume control lets you crank the intensity up or down and the USB adapter with integrated sound card lets you hook up to any computer, even one without a sound card. Put it to work at your next serious competition or LAN party. You’ll never leave home without it again.

- Integrated Sound Card Chip
- Frequency Response: 80-22,000Hz
- Impedance: 32ohms
- SPL (at 1 kHz, 1 Vrms): 114dB
- Cable Length: 3m
- Connector Plug: USB adapter and 2 x 3.5mm jack

Lastly DA at the most recent lan was using a Zalman headset with surround sound. I recall that it did not have a microphone but was good for an accurate idea of your opponents where abouts

Zalman ZM-RS6F+M Real Sourround Sound Headphones "Theatre 6" (SP-000-ZA)

Enhanced spatial and realistic effects by separating front, rear, and center speakers. Easy achievement of real surround-sound by connecting the front, rear, center jacks to the 5 channel (or more) sound card in your PC equipped with a DVD-ROM for games or DVD movies. Real Surround Sound field close to a complete multi-channel speaker system. Excellent fidelity, enhanced localization of on-screen sound, clear dialogue hearing and better feeling on a discrete sound.

Birthday present that I installed today. I must say I am really impressed and I feel that the directional positioning of the sound is WAY better than with my old audio90. It is such an improvement within CZ ...

Been mulling over getting a pair of these for a while.  Could someone clear something up about the speaker passthrough on the amp for me though?  Is the passthrough a permanently 'made' connection (i.e. functions regardless of whether the amp is switched on or off), or is it 'switched' (i.e. passthrough only works when the amp is on, or only when its off)?

Cheers in advance  ;)

I think that it works regardless of whether the amp is on or off.

I too am considering buying a pair of these.

If the Amp is turned off you wont get any sound in the headset as the on switch is also the volume control for the headset. You get sound in your speakers irrespectively if you have the amp turned on or off. The volume of the speakers are not affected by the amp volume control.

Side note: Think the microphone is very good as well and the adjustable boom is the best so far of all headsets I've used.

Plantronics DSP 300 Here I thought the Audio 90s were light! I've still got them attached to my server machine and if I have to use the they now seem clumping. :D

had these for about four years now (on the second pair) and about to be on the third.....problem for me is that the right earpiece has become detached from the stem in both pairs?!!.........still, excellent sound and voice quality, and as light as air :)

Rabbi Bob

Recently upgraded from a pair of normal headphones w/mic to the Audio 90's and I'm happy with their performance and wearing comfort.  I like the mic switch, volume control and oddly enough the little clip.  Mine are a plainer style than the ones posted earlier.
