I have finished the mod to my PC350s and it has made a significant difference to the bass when playing music.

Here is my guide.....

Firstly remove the pleather pads from around the ear cups , I used a screwdriver to gently prise it away, it just clips in place and does not require much force.

Next remove the 5 small screws holding the speaker in position and gently remove it, again I used a screwdriver to prise it out. Be carefull as it is attached by wires so you cannot pull it to far apart.

Next is the scarey bit, drilling the hole or holes, I used a brand new and very sharp wood drill bit and a slow speed drill to lessen the chance of drilling to far but you are drilling away from the actual speaker so I don't think there is much chance of a disaster.

I only drilled one hole and that seems ok to me, I suppose its a case of try one and see if its ok for you if not just drill another.

The Mic side of the headphones was a little tricky and I could not find any mention on line about this. Basically I could not get the speaker out of the cup due to the way the mic is fixed, I'm sure there is a way but in the end I didn't need to I just opened the cup and drilled the hole without removing the speaker.

So there you have it, took about 20 mins in all and really is worth doing if you own this headset.

I can't really recommend a headset as such. But from reading up on it alot the Audio technica ATH-AD700's are supposed to be brilliant for gaming soundstage and also music.

Just have to get one of those zalman clip mic's and you've got a much better setup then.

With headphones its a case of you get what you pay for I'm afraid :/

Have had Plantronics for the past ten years and always fabulous sound.....currently have the DSP 400's (four years old, falling apart, but wouldn't part with them for anything). Previously had the 300's........

Nothing screams quality like these babies (same with Viewsonic monitor's although I know Ron would disagree!!) but at a price-point not too hard to live with. You can keep your fancy smancy Sennheiser's (bit like the Labour Government, mostly spin!!) , and your Medusa's are most likely for the Bin (in double quick time), Plantronics rulz innit?!!.

So to recap, Viewsonic monitor, Plantronics headset and Logitech speakers.......anything else is just a compromise!! :)

I know no-one asked about speaker's but I have the Z5600's and even after 10 years these beasts, kicking out 400 watts, simply knock the "modern" competition into a cocked hat!!

I might have to take some pics of my setup when I get home then :D

Another set of Medusa's bite the dust..

I'm not even going to consider an RMA this time..

Sennheiser haven't let me down yet.

Pricey, but you often get what you pay for with these things.

I am running Sennheisers HD 595 with a steel series clip on mic which I have had no problems with.

Also worth remembering that the PC350 headset has the same cans as the 595s, and a top quality mic thrown in, not cheap though.

Cheapest I can find the 350's for is 95quid new and 75 on EBay.. :(

That's a lot of lolly.. I will wait until my Medusa's actually snap (which won't take long) now that the same crack from last time has formed...

lionheart

I'm sure "someone" will be along any time now to tell you how foolish you are to not consider Plantronics.

And the Medusa's go SNAP..

I've sent a strongly worded email to Speedlink GMBH asking them what they are prepared to do.. I've searched this thread and the last set I had from them was March 2009.

I've also asked if they are aware of the design fault with their Medusa line.. :)

I'll keep you informed of my progress.

Let me guess, right across the headband just about one of the earpieces?

It's been a flaw in their design since it first came out, it happened on 3 pairs for me so I gave up and went Sennheiser in the end, top quality build, top quality sound.

Exactly where mine snapped.
I got another 2 years out of em with gaffer tape and they're sat in a drawer as an emergency set:)

That's the spot.. Same place every time.. If I don't get a free pair I'll need to organise some new cans.

I like the "idea" of surround sound headsets but not sure if they really work.. I'm not convinced that "stereo" headsets do the trick however.
