Quote from: OldBloke;393584After careful research I decided to get the Sennheiser G4me One in black. Yes, they're a tad expensive but the build quality is great, the sound is brilliant (gaming and music) and, being an over-the-ears open design, are very comfortable.

I have the Sennheiser G4me Zero in black, which is the closed cup design rather than the one's open design.
The only flaw I have with an otherwise exceptional product is when you raise the headset mic to mute it picks up the fact you're moving it.
Other than that, the build quality is amazing as is the comfort. I think the One is more comfortable, but the Zero is more suited to my environment.

My TrackClip PRO fits on the G4me One.

I had a set of great Creative Fatality headphones courtesy of Lionheart which I unfortunately broke. Now I'm using Turtle Beach Px22's. They're only about £50 but I'm no audiophile so more expensive ones would be wasted on me. As these are closed ear headphones they do a fairly decent job of muffling any ambient noise which includes the sound of your own voice. So the win feature for me is a volume control that pumps the input to your mic into the headphones. This means you can hear your own voice clearly and don't start thinking you're going deaf and end a gaming session shouting into your microphone. 10/10 if you're looking for a budget price

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Same with the Mionix....and after 2 hours use, the sound is twice as good as the Creative's. So much more detailed and natural, plus the comfort level is also better so far.

What are your thoughts on Mionix vs Zik in regards to audio output?

I really cannot advocate Creative headphones. I've had 3 pairs over the years (although not strictly gaming sets, work buys them for conference calls) and the sound quality is awful. The build quality is OK though as they do last a little bit.

I have actually discovered one large problem with my G4me Zero headset coupled with a new STX2 soundcard (coming from a Logitech wireless G930) - sometimes it's too good. I hear parts of the sound which I never heard before, SFX here, rumble there - but I aso hear the errors.

Playing Elite Dangerous, there is a sound pop that i was worried about with my new audio kit that happened everytime I exited SuperCruise (it's about half way through the exit sound).
After messing with all my settings and it's still there I'm now very worried I have defective kit. So I decided before sending everything back to double check - and plugged the G930 back in.
Lo and behold, if I listened very carefully, the exit pop is there as well (G930 is wireless, so the DAC is in the headset), but it's hardly noticeable.
So the sound pop is either a bug with the game, a bug with windows directsound, or is actually there by design.

Make sure you're using the highest frequency rate possible, in the windows settings.

It could be that at the pop specific time, the game sound frequency is higher than yours.

These are for totally different purposes so I can't really compare the. The Zik headphones are my premium audio music set which I multi purposed for the LAN in October to save on space. I don't use them day to day for gaming, they're also not quite as large cupped as the Mionix which so far I really like for their details and acoustic quality. They are very comfortable as well and as they're wire, no more charging and no more USB slot taken up. I really do need a switch to do a loss less move between headset and speakers as I only have a splitter right now and the volume lowers on both devices because of this.

Any ideas for a no quality loss splitting solution?

It sounds worse with the higher settings. Can still hear it with the lowest settings.
I think I'll ticket it with FD as it's getting highly annoying now.
If you listen very closely you can hear it in some YouTube snippets as well.

Does your speaker setup have optical ports?

ED sounded glorious on those Ziks, it literally felt that I was piloting that ship.

Post of of them youtube snippets where you hear it, including the exact time.

Just so to make sure that your setup isn't faulty.

My speakers are simply a stereo cable into the headphone port on the laptop. I'll check if they have any other outputs.

The Ziks are Bluetooth with noise cancellation. They sound amazing. With a cable rather than Bluetooth and a headphone amp they sound even better.
