As I understand it we will have the following hardware to run the network.  Please shout if this is nto happening so that we can provision some replacements.

1 x Cisco 24 port switch (courtesy of tugs)
1 x D-Link 24 port (courtesy of dMw)
1 x box full of network cables of various lengthes (courtesy of dMw)
1 x server (courtesy of Oldbloke)
1 x server (courtesy of TL)

In a break with tradition this year we will be throwing away those network cables that don't work rather than putting them back into the box.

Anything else needed?

You'll be on the network, to which we will provision internet access.  So just like last time you won't need a modem - and neither will I.  I'll be bringing my router instead :norty:

TL,

I have several 48 port 10/100 Ciscos at work here doing nothing. Do we need them?

I may be able to get gigabit uplinks between them if I dig about a bit, but the switches have to be close together as thegigabit cables are only a metre long.

Also they are in London, so if anyone is in the Centre they can save me a painful tube and train journey with 2 x Cisco Catalyst 3500XL switches.

Let me know asap.

Sorry for late offer, I only found 'em in the stores yesterday.

I'd say that if u can bring one, it would defend agains hardware failures etc... but i can't help get it i'm afraid! in theory we have 3 x 24 port, so long as nobody forgets. at least the 3500xl has decent backplane... ideal leaching switch :)

If you bring them that saves me the problem of how to get mine to Suicidal monkey so he can bring mine to the lan. I'm working silly shifts atm and this is proving to be a pain.

If you can, I would appreciate if it turned up anyway - just in case we have a hardware failure or one of the others does not turn up!
