DMR Council / Hiatus - feel free to link this in public.
November 17, 2009, 04:04:59 PM
Hello guys, you've likely noticed I've been vacant from WoW recently. I have hardly had time to do so recently. The only playtime recently I've had was spent using WoW as an instant messenger to my sister on Arathor-EU.
I've been working alot recently, coupled with helping my brother and 'seeing' a girl(which hopefully will evolve soon ^^) it has meant little time. I'll be honest WoW has always been a filler for me, something to plug gaps. But now it seems I don't have many aforementioned gaps in my life.
The reason for this post is to declare a hiatus from WoW, but I might be back depending on how things work out. So not goodbye, most likely a see you later.
With all this I am giving my sister my druid, he will remain on my account and she said I can bring him back to Aszune anytime I want.
I'll miss the team stuff and the chats, but this is best for me, I don't want WoW to creep too high on my priority list.
I will jump online when I get time to say hi and check in on the guild, on an alt. But not sure if I'll be back raiding too soon.
Thank you for letting me join you so openly, the will of this guild to give people a chance makes it special. I'd like to stay on the forum and have an alt stay in the guild if that's ok.
Again thank you, and good luck!
Signed the coffee filled raiding tree Baylien

DMR Council / New officer - CL shakeup
November 06, 2009, 12:58:48 PM
Ice and Hal both seem to have alot of drive and dedication, just have to make sure whoever gets promoted has the ability to count to 10 in problematic encounters. Somebody with drive who calls out 'issues' is good, so long as you have a 'good cop' to morph frustrations into constructive and supportive criticism.
On a side note sorry for not being around much recently. I'm living with my brother who unfortunately has developed an illness which makes hand movement very unstable, which we all take for granted I guess. So he needs help with certain things until he gets treatment. Hopefully he should be back to his old self soon and I can play more, to be honest I needed a break from raiding anyway.

DMR Council / Considering a break

A good idea in part, but not everybody will look at it as rewarding players taking a risk, instead more punishing people for running with friends and guilds.
And 'random' raid pugs will never happen work because the raid leader will still demand achievements and disband the raid lol.
Personally I like the idea, I just hope the money is the only bonus. I don't mind losing 60g for running with friends/guild, but to lose emblems for not pugging is just going against the whole idea of guilds and playing with friends......still it's the PTR so not final. Also alot of things blizzard has announced/tested in the past have look questionable but have worked out fine.

DMR Council / Moderation - last night
October 11, 2009, 03:33:02 PM
There will always be misunderstandings and disagreements in any social community, we just have to deal with it in a civil and constructive manner.
I think the change of raid schedules is a non-issue now as we know to add 'in effect from....' on any notifications :)
Sorry if this seems mute, but thought I'd show my interest.

DMR Members Only / Locked Raids (edit)
October 10, 2009, 08:31:01 PM
I think it was a miscommunication of context. The statement of ToC 10 being part of the raid schedule(Thursdays) and it being classified as non-pug were not airtight when it came to continuity.
ToC10 will be run on Thursdays as 2 raids as things currently stand.
This begins from the next reset, so feel free to run ToC10 until the next reset.
Sorry if this was not entirely clear.

DMR Council / Change in Raid roster?
October 06, 2009, 11:30:00 PM
I entirely agree with extending Yogg, we had the gear for that encounter months ago, so just a case of managing the tactics. I think we should get 2 or 3 full Ulduar clears in before we start ToC 25, but you are correct Icecrown is knocking at the door! I must say 2x ToC10 sounds like fun, although I'm not sure how the rest of the guild will take it. But doing fights on the often much easier 10 man is a good way to learn tactics for the more complex 25 man version, even taking into account extra mechanics for 25.
I suggest we have a pop at ToC heroic 10 man first, maybe on an off night, to judge how much it will push us.
Ultimately you point of time being short is something that needs to be on our minds, so my thoughts are 2-3weeks more in Ulduar with at least 2 Yoggy kills, then switch to ToC 25  as priority

DMR Council / DKP - Is now the time?
October 06, 2009, 05:45:02 PM
Although not always popular I also like the idea of attendance DKP.
Basically you attend(be online and accessible for the duration of the raid) you get a point, you join the raid at the cost of one point. So if you attend but raid is full you get +1 attendance dkp for sitting in reserve, people in the raid get one point, but also spend one.
Reset this weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, however you see fit.
As much as some people can't attend as much as 'others' that is not a fault of said 'others'. This is merely something which worked very well in BTDT, likely not the case for DMR.
Equality is a not a line it's a multidimensional manifold lol.
I am on the fence with DKP, I'm happy with or without it, gear is only really needed for hard modes anyway imo.

DMR Members Only / My Inet is so rubbish...
October 06, 2009, 05:32:47 PM
I feel your pain, my ISP seems pants since I got home from my holiday last week. To top it off my gaming rig died last night, so have a bloke working on it for me, owed me a favour lol. Luckily I have my old PC, it's slow but can run WoW easily enough.

DMR Members Only / Power Aura's - Read and Consider
October 02, 2009, 09:44:31 PM
A very nice explanation of the merits of this addon. I already have macros to remind me when CD based abilities are available, but will likely use Power Auras as a mana reminder, as my original reminder addon seems to be broken.
So why not give it a try, if it does not help then it's only five minutes lost, but it looks highly beneficial for proc dps abilities for example.
