Hmm, I agree that the Elan is a tricky car to drive. I know that I would have to practise driving it on the nurb every day for the next months up untill the LAN, so I wouldn't mind switching to another car. I wouldn't mind staying with the Elan either - it would just be much more of a challenge.[/b]

We're looking for a bit of fun here, not a career move.  :)

However, I'm not sure about the idea of letting different cars compete in this kind of competition i.e. timed laps. Of course the cars are in the same class and are meant to compete against each other, but it wouldn't give us a picture of 'who's the best driver on the nurb', which I suppose is the idea of this competition?

I'm making the bold assumption that not everyone is up to their ears in GTL, so I'm betting that the guy that does a CLEAN and reasonably quick lap will win.

Regarding the setup of the car: How about if you, Ron, make a LAN-profile that we could all download and use? It would eliminate any questions and doubts about anything.

The setup will be as it comes out of the box. The only thing I do is to move the suspension slider to the middle. Someone else may prefer it harder or softer. BlueBall, NO!

I'm contemplating very seriously going in the Nordschleife Taxi. Sabine, a very quick driver who did the ring in 10 minutes in a Ford Transit for god's sake! Or Hans Joachim Stuck. There is another driver who's name I forget. Either way it'd be a helluvan experience.

Well, of course. I just meant that if I don't practise driving the Elan, I wouldn't get to the finish line (no, that's not in Finland) in under 30 minutes I think :)

Ok, I didn't mean it to be that serious :) It would just 'spoil the fun' if one car is overly powerful compared to the others. The long straights on the nurb could make quite a difference here.

Ok. Since I don't have GTL yet, I shouldn't have a problem with keeping the cars default, but what if you have already fiddled with the cars settings - can you revert it to default then?

The wheel hasn't arrived yet but you can bet your last Kroner there will be a picture any day soon.

I'm looking forward to that!

In general the cars in that class, if they are 'overly powerful' don't go round corners so well. It all comes out in the wash.  :)

don't get serious? about free ("good") whisky? Good grief man...

I finally managed to set up an account with Play.com so GTL should be appearing any day now :D so whatever tc65 car type meant I shall be grabbing a cheat to unlock them for practicing! ;) I'll make a clean profile otherwise and work my way up until I get bored :)

oh yes - do we have to race from the incar view? I'm a fan of the following camera view myself :)

Please, don't get me started! :taz: In car, in car, in car. It's what you do when you drive. You don't sit up in the sky looking down at yourself! Now behave!  :D

okay, been playing about, managed to get the mini round "the mother '83" in just nuder 11 minutes. Bearing in mind I went off the track a few times I imagine there's quite some room for improvement! I tried in a ford Falcon but it's a bit less stable and ended up being slower despite the extra power/potential speed...

...also the unlock and money hacks (I'm keeping my main profile clean but I get bored and it's nice to have the fast cars too!) did not seem to do anything :( anyone got a successful unlock-hack? One that I can keep separate from my main profile? :)

edit: noticed the cheat on ron's website and found another website with instructions on how to use it...

I have a Triumph Dolomite Sprint, and a 2003 Polo, but will shortly have no license I expect depending on the vagaries of the British Justice system.

Does yours the standard speckled Brown/orange?
I owned a few dolop-oh-shites in my youth, liked them but piles of rust they were.
Put me off rear wheel drive as I heaped the sprint.

Yes there is. It is another term for deep brunswick green, and as such is an acceptable name. British Racing Green has British Standard Colour Code #BS 381 C and as such is a recognised colour  :P
