Quote from: OldBloke;287537First review I've seen and it aint all good news :eyebrow:
I thought it would have whizz bang internal improvements but it doesn't appear so. So I'll not be tempted.
Who's in charge of things?

I bet Thomas at Fanatec couldn't be much happier. Looks like Logietch dropped the ball! To be honest I expected Logitech to grab this chance to release a high-end wheel at a reasonable price, to beat Fanatec once and for all before they become an even larger and more serious competitor.

Looks like Christmas came early for Fanatec this year. :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the G27 is a great product. But like Obsolum said, the lack of a sequential shifter is really silly.. the H-pattern gear really must have improved significantly in order to justify leaving out the sequential!!

It's here! OMGOMGOMGOMGOGMOMG :yahoo:

(Clubsports + GT3RS)

I rarely feel a persuation to kiss other men, but the DHL guy was living dangerously there for a second. :norty:

Just hardmounted it and tried it real quick to confirm that it's working. I'll report back later! :flirty:

I spent a good while today just making final adjustments to the Rinoseat so that the wheel fit to my liking. Took some time, but now it's solid as a rock!

I haven't made any adjustments to the pedals yet, I just jumped in and drove. I've tried LFS, rFactor and nKP. A few thoughts so far:

Wheel is VERY powerful, yet also very smooth and quiet. Bumps on the surface give solid, precise jolts, but without that annoying loud noises that my old G25 made. I quickly enabled "drift mode", which reduces the dampening of the wheel and makes it more responsive. Haven't fiddled around with it too much, but it feels sublime the way it is now. :D

The pedals feel very good indeed. Nice travel on the gas! I'll have to reduce the range of travel on the brake as it's a bit too "squishy" to my liking now, but the load cell doesn't saturate until you apply a pretty high force, which is good. I'll make some adjustments as soon as I can find a 14mm spanner..

The placement of the pedals makes heel&toe incredibly natural. I think it's the shape of the gas which does it. I was h&t-ing like a pro from the first lap! Compared to how much fiddling it took to my old G25 pedals to get a decent setup for h&t..!

All in all, VERY solid first impression! The only bad thing is that for some reason rFactor took a MASSIVE framerate hit, compared to driving with a keyboard (130FPS w/keyboard --> 30-40 w/wheel No such effect in nKP or LFS.

As you said somewhere else, it looks as though Logitech have scored an own goal. Sounds good, look forward to a more measured critique. (I know one is coming :))

Yeah I just don't understand the whole shifter business.. really stupid!

Ã,£99,99 is quite a bargain!

Doorman

Does the Fanatec shifter have a sequential option?

Gnomie

Nope.. they have two different ones (H-gate + sequential). In fact I'm not very impressed with the Fanatec shifters, so I didn't buy one.

The G25 shifter is actually a pretty good product. It doesn't offer much resistance, but other than that it does the job nicely.

That's just hilarious. :lmfao: Ã,£100 for a G25 versus Ã,£330 for a G27??

spoong

The Ã,£100 deal is this weekend only from one retailer.  Usual price is more like Ã,£120-Ã,£150.  Nonetheless, this is like the v2 G15 - more expensive with fewer features.  Go Logitech! :)
