Whats the quickest way to go up a rank?  :boxing:
Was trying for ages yesterday
and yes i was on a ranked server

DuVeL

Quickest? Karkand 24/7-server, medic or resupply.
If you do that then you can make 1000 points in a couple of hours.

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Make sure this is an FF-off-server then.

:withstupid: especially on Karkand as they would otherwise blow each other up the roof of the buildings with C4 :ranting2:

Joining a server and then playing purely to bump your stats is not the dMw way and does not send out the right message about us.

If you think I'm wrong then say so.

BF2 is made for the rankingpart aswell. Ranking on BF2 is what anyone needs to decide for himsel I think.
Unless you mean bumping stats as in statpadding.
But I do rank on publicservers (with my -=[dMw]=-tag) and yes you do come upon some *d**ts sometimes but I also get alot of good comments from people who I've played with. According to me: You still can rank with the -=[dMw]=-tag on!
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I appreciate that ranking is a big part of the BF2 scene but if you make decisions based on your ranking requirements rather than on your team's requirements - that's wrong. Not only is it wrong, it's against everything we stand for. Ranking up should be a consequence of your teamplay, not your goal.

I'm not the most experienced BF2 player but I'd think you can still play in the spirit of dMw and enjoy the ranking side of the game.  As long as your still a team player and sticking to the objectives/team strategy does it matter if you enjoy the medals etc that come with playing on a ranked server? :g:

EDIT: OB posted above while I was writing this.

Gone_Away

Strictly speaking OB is correct.

Most of the awards and stats in BF2 are for the individual. Imagine a game where if you all achieved the objective you all got the same reward / stat??

I still disagree.
The further you get in ranking, the more you need good teamwork and so.
How else do you think I allready have my gold Commanderbadge?
There are nice ranked servers out there where you actually get some teamplay.

So if BF2-ranking is not dMw, WoW is?
On WoW it's all about getting higher on levels. Sure, then you'd say about teamwork and such, but you have that on BF2rankedservers aswell (sounds the exact same to me though).
Opinion please. :g:
***Sorry WoW-guys, I don't want to offend here but I see it as the exact same thing.
Example: Last LAN I've showed my BF2-profile and was proud of it. TL showed his WoW-profile and he was proud of it.

I think my point is being misunderstood ...

Ranking achieved through good teamplay and consideration for the objective is fine. And I'm absolutely sure that your ranks were achieved in this manner, Duvel.

However, joining a server and playing as a sniper just so that you can get sniper-related ranking points irrespective of whether your team actually *needs* a sniper (as suggested earlier in the thread) is wrong.

Well, on the new Jallalalalalalalaalabad you need snipers, especially on the server I play (infantry only). The sniper covers his teamm8s so they can move up. Also holding the enemies off as a sniper is really good.

Some people also like to rank to get the unlocks. I've finally unlocked my last 2 guns a bit back and now I can use them if I want (if anyone wants to try them at the LAN then go ahead).

I like getting the medals through teamplay and such and some are really difficult to get.
I think that if we had played more BF2 in matches and such people would have gone ranking more aswell to get unlocks and to get a higher rank.
