Well it was another good LAN and I got home safe and sound. Weather is pants and there was a whole mess of spray.

Thanks to the commitee for organising it all again.

I think there was somthing wrong with that last 1/2 bottle of wine, my stomach feels funny and I have a head-ache :g:
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Doorman

Made it safely back to the homestead, plugged stuff in and now going go to sleep in front of the tv 'watching' the GP
Good lan even though I didn't get a prize for being on the winning CoD4 comp :crying:

I'm home and back up and running.  We had a nice run back up the road with no delays and in good time for the GP. :)

Thanks everyone for another great LAN!

Home and unpacked, uneventful journey.

Thanks to everyone who came and put up with me :)  A bloody great weekend was good to catch up with you all.

See you on the servers :)

Liberator

Well, my alternator has packed up. Battery light was on as soon as I set off from March.

I thought it was lying as when I dipped the clutch and let is go bellow 1500 revs (diesel) the light went out and also when at junctions.

I eventually noticed that the wiper blades were struggling a bit and thought "ah, this is going to be serious".

I turned off all electrical so that only the turbo, steering and fuel solenoid were having to be powered from the battery. Lights were off and wiper was only used when really needed (which was quite a lot).

Slowly but surely the electrical systems started to fail one by one, Traction Control, ABS and SRS gave up about 60 miles from home.

Speedo and revs started failing about 25 miles from home, started using SatNav (on battery) to get a speed reading.

Indicators and turbo gave in about 15 miles from home and there was furious clicking from the wiper solenoid whenever I flicked it on.

Even the battery indicator started to go very dim.

6.5 miles from home the battery finally gave in and couldn't supply the small voltage needed to keep the fuel valve open. :crying:

I called one of my brothers who came out and we attached jump leads to the battery and ran his engine for 5 minutes and started my engine again and used the small amount of charge he'd thrown in it to get the final few miles home.

If I hadn't had the Aircon and radio on for the first 30-40 miles and it hadn't been raining, I would have made it on the charge in the battery.

If it had been a petrol car I wouldn't have made it through the first few villages.

Anyway, excellent LAN again and a big thanks to all the organisers.

Benny will have to come and initiate the new faces next year.
