Whitey

Server done and restarted.  I ran through a big chunk of the hostile co-op mission and it seems smoother and I had none of the funny "hic ups" I used to get.  I managed to take out the tank and get control of both trucks with only one respawn as the enemy AI seems to be more sensible!  Anyone around to try it this Thursday?

Armitage

I have updated, but can't make Thursday. any other night of the week I'm good for.

I have a tennis match tomorrow and CS on Friday.  How about a session on Saturday?

Tutonic

I'd be up for playing - if the server didn't take an extreme disliking to me :(

I'm up for giving it another go some time.

That sniper rifle was alot of fun except that the AI know exactly where you were!

I really need to play this and get into it, it's another one of those buy, install, never get around to playing, games.

Aquilifer

I bought this too. I'm quite happy (probably because I don't get most of the problems some people have complained). Few pointers to the comments seen in this thread...

- patch 1.03 fixes many of the bugs (most people find it at least as stable as 1.02 so I think it is worth trying) and give more fps (personal opinion)
- Head bobbing...can be adjusted (even turned off) in options
- Try adjust the dead/ floating zone for aiming (i.e. how much the screen follows the gun)
- Do not try to run this at max settings even if you have i7 and and an SLI setup which eats as much power as a small village.
- Imho post processing is unnecessary and view distance can be as low as 1000m unless if you are flying a jet. Keep the render resolution same as the screen reso.
- the key chart might look long at first (ok it does have a bit more keys than e.g. cod) but you don't have to use e.g most of the radio commands etc unless you are commanding several platoon size force in the tactical RTS kind mode. Around 12 keys (wasdqerzxcvg and mouse) is enough to control all kind of vehicles.
- I have found the armory game mode (in the single player game list) nice to get used to the controls and different weaponry. (if want try without shooting try them in the editor). Or try the training missions.

This is quite different from the shoot em-up style games like cod. Maybe because this has so much more open area and engament distances are longer. If you run, you get tired so think when to run when not. When advancing go from cover to cover. When shooting, stop, go prone or crouch and aim down the sight (default right mouse button and then keep it pressed to zoom). Generally this makes you think lot more of your survival rather than your kill record. And this didn't even touch the importance of the squad co-working.

I've updated our server to 1.04.  I hope we can get the chance to play this at the LAN so it would be good if everyone that has the game does the update:  http://www.arma2.com/support/updates/folder.html?lang=en

Ok grabbing it for the lan

I have heard op flashpoint 2 is the same again but with less bugs at release and as a whole alot better package.

Maybe we should migrate to that instead although i suppose everyone has arma 2 so lets stick wth plan a

I'm not playing AA2 it sucks big time IMO - also none of my friends who bought this are playing it either - the user interface is one of the most appalling excuses I've seen - it looks very similar to the first OFP which is now 8 years old!

Great game tonight (once the ironing of the issues was done).

I can see me getting into that once a week quite happily. Apart from bailing out of the chopper it went fairly well. *gritted teeth* yeah Armitage, it's quite good.

Now, to see if it's any good with more than 4 on!

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Ok, so a game was on last night, Sulky suggested Thursday and yesterday there was talk about gaming this Friday. Perhaps it would be a good idea to set a week day? :g:I know this is still trial, but I guess that  makes the need even more so... getting the few players together...
