SLI patch from nvidia released

This version of the NVIDIA SLI profile patch should be used with v186.18 display driver. It adds support for the following PC games:

* Anno 1404 (Dawn of Discovery)
* ARMA II

Hi guys - how's it going with ArmA2?

I've been pottering around with it since teh demo (up to teh full version now), and I have mixed thoughts about it (mainly due to performance issues).

However, I do now have it working and playing smoothly online (although I have had to drop the graphic quality drastically to get it to behave nicely).

What's a good night to catch up with you guys and ArmA2?

I don't know who's in charge of the dmw Arma server, but I get booted off it when I try to connect because I have a different version, apparently.

I've got a retail copy with the latest patch on, anyone else having the same problem?

Cheers Lee. I'll download the new drivers this weekend.

Sunday is the next time I will be on the server (8'ish).

and make sure you are running  1.2.0.58134. there are 2 patches with very similar numbers.

Interesting, I had to do the same. I have recommended specs though and I still have to reduce a lot to get the full flow. The game "flows" nicely with high spec, but it just doesn't feel responsive... Might be me though...

So is this worth getting? Is it a cod 4 replacer?
do I need a beast to run it? Is it another 'insurgence'?

It is worth getting. It is not a cod replacer per se because emphasis is more on realism than action. No you do not need a beast. I think this game has great dMw potential, but as mentioned in this thread before, it is not a jump-in-and-shoot-kinda-game so hard to say.

Hi Delanvital!

Yes, even though I seem to have above minimum specs the problem with mine seems to be my dual core processors. My graphics card should have no problem handeling the game (Nvidia 8800GTS).

So its perhaps an MB/Quad core upgrade I'm looking at.

I do also notice slight slow downs when there's lots of armour and smoke clouds, but at least it's playable.

Hi Benny - this is my own opinion but...

It's definitely not comparable to CoD4 (although ArmA2 has very enjoyable 'deathmatch' and capture the flag modes). It's a totally different beast...

It's a lot more squad tactical, there are times when you may not see a lot of action but may be travelling to the objective --- committed CoD-heads will find this very tedious.

(In Co-op mode...)

Sometimes you travel a long way to get to objective and either just die or find the enemy have already been taken care of!

There is a very nice Advance and Secure mode that seems to be a lot more 'dMw'. The action is a nice ballance of tactics and adrenalin...

The big plus's are the level of detail, the beautiful environment and teh range of accurately detailed weapons. There is a role for everyone - though flying is an art-form.

To me - it's *still* not teh 'perfect' battlefield game - but is getting there (mods like ACE may improve it still more). Sometimes it can be confusing, teh key control system is a nightmare...

My money is on Codemasters being the real thing with it's Operation Flashpoint 2 - but in the meantime there *is* a lot of fun to be had in the lovely mountains and forests....IF you can get the game running smoothly.

Here's a little write up I did when I did a full days gaming in ArmA2: Milgeek's 'Game Day 2' - mini-blog

Well, I don't think so - I use a 3.18 GHz quad core, but only a 8800GT 512MB, and I have the same problem... I think the issue could be my lack of RAM, I only have 2 GB DDR2, running at what would be approx PC7500... how much RAM do you have?

2 GB DDR2!

Hmmmm! :)

- let's look at this the other way round --- Is there anyone out there who has this game running smoothly in HIGH quality? (What is you spec)

---snip---

Cheers Ranger, I think given that it may be worth me having a tinker single player, but not much more. I don't have entire evenings to devote to games at the moment so those that I do need to be worth it.

If it suddenly takes off and everyone gets all 'Battlefield 1942' about it, I'll dive in.

Cheers
