From what's being said it looks like this is one to keep en eye on if the gameplay pans out, especially if the extra modes give it even more dMw scope.

from a tactical perspective the Squad rush mode seems really interesting for a tactical community like us

After playing the beta I believe that this game can be played tactically on every game mode with right set of rules and people. And those Squad-modes make this ideal for competetive gaming and for uber tactical gameplay.

Are you a small BF community site or competitive team with a website? If yes & have BFBC2 in your site design let us know for 8 Beta Keys.

Might help someone.

The Ranked server files have and will always only be available to certain companies and I can 100% guarantee that we would not get put on that list.  There will probably be 3 - 4 companies that get recommended server provider status.  The server will most likely be around 85p - Ã,£1.50 a slot.  BF2 and 2142 was exactly the same you had to go RSP to get ranked.  At RIP I tried to get our dedi provider 2142 status with the help of someone who worked on bf2 at ea with dice and dice still said no even though he was a bf2 provider.  It is all done to try and keep game hackers at bay.  Most of the hacks for bf2/ 2142 where possible due to the hackers getting there hands on the server code and punkbuster was just an after thought.

As for the game the potential is huge.  Team/ squad play is a must! and so much more enjoyable.  Yes the game is a bit buggy but it is the beta.  After the patch most of the lag issues have gone.  At the moment the game is not well optimised and not great driver support but I am sure it will get there.  This surely is the next big game I just hope the full release is as good.

I have asked someone who works at ea on the BFBC2 project to try and get some info about what sort of admin we will be able to get over the dedi servers.  The last time we had BFCC which was a pain to set up properly but was a great program.  It did take a good bit of time for that to come out after the release of the game though.  I am sure multiplay and killer creations will have there own admin program as they did for bf2/ 2142 that allows kick, ban, warn etc.  I also think they allowed the setup for a reserved slot for members but can't be 100% sure on that as we had 4 of our own dedi boxes so had BFCC on them.  I also made an informal enquiry to the idea of price per slot :D

TeaLeaf

I agree we're not going to see dedi server files available to us to run on our own hardware, but we're hopeful we still might be able to support the game if there is sufficient interest in the community for it.  If that means providing a server via an 'authorised partner' then that'll be the way we have to go.

Any admin info for the new servers would be handy to know though, so thanks for seeking that info for us!

As you are too lazy to click links here it is :):

QuoteRemote Administration interface for BFBC2 PC

Hi again!

A lot of people are asking about server administration. What's up there?

A little background
Since the Frostbite engine had not yet been used for any PC titles, there had been no need for advanced server administration tools. BFBC2 PC changed that however.
There was a sort of "server console" thing, but it was intended for developer use only. Something easier to use and more stable was necessary when we came closer to release it to the PC users.

So what are we doing?
We are creating a separate command console, which is stable, and where the commands will not change. This will be the Remote Administration interface for BFBC2 PC. BF2 console commands have been a good source of inspiration :)
The Remote Administration interface is accessible over a network port on the game server.

While we ensure that there is a solid administration interface, we are not creating any fancy tools. Why not? Because the community will do a much better job! RSPs have already been using the interface for weeks, and several people are working on user friendly tools. We will continue to improve the protocol with functions that are necessary to make good tools.

When Closed Beta Server R5 (yes, we have already patched the game servers 3 times. I love our new patching system) is released, the RSPs will be allowed to expose the Remote Administration interface on their servers to the public... and we will publish the FULL protocol specification. You have my word on that.

Stay tuned.

I got the first reply back form contact at ea.  He has forwarded the email to the cheif designer for bfbc2 at dice!!!! So will wait and see what we get back.  So as lex has posted we will get more or less the same sort of control we had via rcon for bf2 so apart from changing files on the box we should have full control over how the server is run.  The advance and secure nature of rush despite it's very frantic fighting at times is what DMW is all about!! Team Team Team or die.

Having played this now I think it could very easily be a game we can take on to our style of play. With 4-6 Players a side (which hopefully we can manage with just DMW players) I can see squads working out nice and tactically.
I'm still playing with basic kit and I can see how important it is to pick the right tools for the job.

My only fear is not enough adoption of the game and having the fullest it get be about 6 people total as that might not be very fun. Though I suppose with Squad Rush it might work.
Juggling Hard Disks over concrete floors ends in tears 5% of the time.

Watchin shout casts of BFBC2 Beta Clan Matches. Thinking maybe to allow servers to force planted charges in Rush. Thoughts Competitors?

Looks pretty good that they are thinking about the competitive playing.

Got and email back form the QA manager at dice regarding a things I had asked him.  Still no word yet on the amount of control we will have via any form of rcon/ adin panel commands.  There will be NO prone the end!! in this game apparently the prone troll has been taken outside and shot! :lmfao: The price for a 32 man server will be from Ã,£25.60 pm that is from multiplay and will include and admin panel of some sort. I assume it will be similar to the one that I used with 2142 which is adequate.  I have asked a freind who will also be able to have ranked servers to try and get a price for me.  It will then be upto the powers that be to decide if it is something for the community.  The game really does need a full server to be at it's best.  A minimum of 8 v 8 or two squads to cover both bases or it just becomes a game of run between two places.  He also sent me this website address to have a look at the equipment that will be in the full game.

Can you ask him to confirm whether the servers will only be available from trusted partners?

Basically will he allow non ranked free servers or is that a "definite" no?
