Battlefield Bad Company 2- a beta testers view

So its here and beta's are released.

Fireplay.net did have some keys they have now all gone.

Fileplanet have keys for north american subscribers only.

Remaining keys seem to be for pre purchaser's only.

We already have a topic on the game in the its a game but hasn't got a topic but as its finally here and its a possible dmw game we can sit down and start doing the math.

So is it a game we could play and do we need a ranked server?

Can beta testers for now please record your name and your thoughts on the game.

(potentially i would like the other topic merged with this one. The latter part with regard to the actual beta testers experiences if possible please)

Is there a server client that we can get hold of or is this beta for official servers only. Anyone scouted unofficial servers which are ranked/ unranked?

At the moment it has few bugs but after those are fixed the game will be supreme. And what is to be considered is that the final game has a hard core mode, so no sights etc. And also these tactical squad modes. And this beta tells us that Dice really wants to make a good product and they are listening people, after ps3 beta there was a huge fix list and hopefully too after this.

Testing continues today.

Right, i have just bought it on steam.

Just installed.

Anyone jumping in set your game name to your normal player name then choose the usual -=[dMw]=- for clantag

Can't wait to play later on

It's very buggy, and the servers were getting smashed last night, but my god its fun.

The destructable terrain/scenery gives you so many options. Sniper holed up in a building causing you problems? Flatten the building with C4 :devil:

Can I ask that the people giving their comments give some weight to the question of whether this game will be a good fit for our ethos?

I'll see if I can find out about the dedicated server issues.

The game is can be adopted to our style of play without problems, its highly tactical..

Servers are rented at EA approved hosts, hence no dedis for smaller gaming communities

Thanks for the info guys. At this stage I'm not hopeful we can support a game where we have to pay for an externally hosted server. Having said that, as more and more releases are abandoning the idea of dedicated servers it's an area that we simply have to revisit to examine all avenues open to us. :g:
