BC2 had an autoupdate which i use in steam, once updated (if there is one) it auto launches into the game ;)

BF3 blog has a video of the FrostBite2 engine in action.

The requirements are not detailed, but it does say it is designed to run on 64-bit OS versions (Win7 and :rolleyes: Vista) so those of us with 4GB+ will be laughing.

Notice the video is clearly showing a room from (the now canned) Mirror's Edge 2.

The blog has some BF3 screenshots and a nice bullet-point list of confirmed BF3 features.

Some things of note in the article are the engine's dynamic lighting making night/day cycles possible and the new engine being designed with mod-tools in mind.

Bad news is that unless you buy the "Limited Edition" BF3, you don't get the BF2 maps & weapons DLC (Karkand & Wake) which will probably split the player-base, like Northern Strike did when 2142 was released and the BF2 Special Forces & other map-pack DLC.

Yep. EA Games "rejected" the prototype. Probably not enough SIMS in it!

DICE Community Manager Daniel Matros revealed on the official Battlefield forums that the pre-order incentive DLC pack "Back to Karkand" will include four maps. Once the pack unlocks players can pwn noobs on Wake Island, Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula.

Now while my nostalgia for BF2 is making smile at the thought of playing these maps again, the devil on my other shoulder says "EA just got out of making new maps, by making us re-buy very old ones". Plus I think we'll see players flocking to the old maps and any new maps not getting a look in.

I want to see the “Urban Siege” from BF1942: Desert Combat Mod. It was one of the best maps in the Battlefield series, despite that, or even because, it was made by modders.

The BF2 maps in the BF3 DLC have been confirmed by DICE member Daniel Matros in the official EA UK forums as Wake Island, Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman och Sharqi Peninsula.

The Battlefield 3 blog has a breakdown, with a history of the Battlefield 2 maps here.

Looks like buying the "BF3: Special Edition" (since it doesn't cost more) is the way to go IMO. Thoughts? Comments?

A full version of the BF3 trailer is on YouTube now in glorious HD and there is a detailed report from a full "reveal" of the SP element of BF3 at the GDC for press only. See more info at Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

Looks like DICE are seriously shaping up to take on the COD series, and it's shaping up very nicely indeed..
