As far as the physical warfare package goes, it's exactly what I think DLC should be. http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2011/06/16/physical-warfare-pack-available-to-all-battlefield-3-players.aspx
It's extra content for a game that they can give to players early as a thank you, but everyone else will get eventually.

As for the Karkhand map pack, that's their way of rewarding pre-orders (they want to be the number 1 franchise in FPS). It's smart, they know MW3 is dropping shortly after, so if people don't buy quickly they might not end up buying at all. I imagine 6 months down the line there'll be a game of the year edition that includes it, or another DLC pack that also comes with the original 4 DLC maps. If you're not convinced to pre-order by gameplay footage, a demo and classic maps it's unlikely you'll turn around after the first post-launch reviews are in and decide you're missing out. I didn't pick up BO for months for instance (waited for it to hit the £20 mark).

EA's Frank Gibeau said this week that...
Quote...Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 compared to Battlefield 3, was like Roger Moore's James Bond compared to Jason Bourne.
:roflmao:

No love lost there. But then Bobby Kotick already said:-
Quote“Well so far I’ve only seen Battlefield 3 shown on a PC,” he said, “so I haven’t seen it on a console which is where the bulk of our business is. If it’s just the PC titles as it looks like today, that’s a very small audience to participate â€" but we always are interested in seeing what our competitors are doing.”

If they were on dMw's server, I'd kick 'em both.

Well they never unlocked the M1 for all in BC2 did they???

I 100% agreed with this as it showed loyatly to their users.

The sepcat kits were also given away to DrPepper drinkers in the USA for free. When that died off, they released them as payware DLC.

I had to laugh about this remark.
I'm allways wearing my dads old dog tags while playing and such for good luck as an addition to the Grolsch. ;)

Really looking forward to this game as I've played BF2 alot and ended up as Lieutenant Colonel. Karkand used to be my favourite map though, 366 hours only on that map!

Dont worry everyone will get this dlc

“I would like to start by clarifying that the Physical Warfare Pack is a time-based exclusive. If you do not pre-order Battlefield 3 at a retailer carrying the Physical Warfare Pack, don’t worry. We will unlock the contents of the Physical Warfare Pack for free to all Battlefield 3 players later this year.

“The Physical Warfare Pack will be available as a pre-order bonus all over the globe. Right now, the UK is the only country where it has been announced, but stay tuned to get constant updates on where you can pick this up in your country. And remember, if you do not pre-order, you will still get access to this content at a later date, free of charge. If you do pre-order, you will get access to it from day one.”

Back to Karkland is also a pre-order bonus which will be made available sometime after launch, but unlike the aforementioned incentive, it won’t be free.

Battlefield 3 is out in October.

Thanks, Yoshi.

You would be better off with the play offer as you get the "Back to Karkland" which will not be free to all DLC

Battlefield 3: Limited Edition also includes the digital expansion pack "Battlefield 3: Back To Karkand". This themed multiplayer expansion pack includes the four legendary maps Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Sharqi Peninsula and Wake Island from Battlefield 2 - boldly re-imagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals. Completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles which can be brought back to your Battlefield 3 game, unique unlocks, new achievements/trophies, and more. The Battlefield 3: Limited Edition is available as a pre-order incentive and may not be available after launch

As i quoted in this thread on the 13th, the Battlefield blog stated...
Quote from: TwoBad;326987Q: Do I have to choose between Back to Karkand and the Physical Warfare Pack as my pre-order bonus?
A: No. There is no way you can pre-order Battlefield 3: Limited Edition and not   end up with the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge. On   top of this, select retailers all over the world will carry the  Physical  Warfare Pack. Exact details for other countries and retailers  will be  announced at a later date.
So if you want Dog Tags which are unique to PLAY not YOU, buy from Play.  If you want unique Tags, make 'me yourself.
If you want both DLC from the get go, buy from Game

will it not work on steam if you buy it from play etc?
I got a game from play the other day and it went straight on steam.

DuVeL

I've been checking it on a few sites and it seems to be an EA download so I reckon not as they usually don't work through Steam then. Also I haven't seen it yet on the Steamstore.
