Hangar variants

Chris Roberts stated at Gamescom that we will be allowed to choose a hangar variant of our choice. Hangar variants will no longer be tied to the ship package.

Apparently, you only get to choose once but you will be able to purchase additional hangars in game.

The following video shows the hangars available which will be in the 0.9 patch in a couple of weeks. I like them all except the Revel & York (Deluxe). To my eyes it looks too much like a top-end ship showroom than a working hangar. The other three are great. I love the grittiness of the VFG (Asteroid) and the Self-Land (Discount) and the clean lines of the Aeroview (Business). I'd like CIG to give us the opportunity to experience them all before choosing because right now I'm really undecided.

I actually like the look of the Revel & York, I don't intend on getting my hands dirty so I would prefer a clean sleek look.  Also I like the flashy lights

I like the business and the asteroid is so going to be purchased for my outland bases, but with you Sparko, reminds me of the Mclaren garage through development.

Did anyone actually get an Asteroid hanger? I'm considering getting the upgrade. I love the Revel and York, but it just doesn't feel 'lived-in' enough for me. One problem - the phoenix will look weird in it lol. What do people think of their hangers?

I currently have the Self-land and the Business ones (thanks to the herald). I don't recall choosing though as they came with ships. How can I see the asteroid or make a choice?

In 'My Hangar' there is a 'Configuration' button in the hangar section that allows you to set which one to see.

I like the Asteroid Hangar too, but personally i think that $50 for the VFG Hangar is a REALLY bad deal compared to $100 for a Cutlass Black with free VFG Hangar :g:

That's a nice idea Andy. Thanks. I'm just in the process of deciding where I'm going and what I'm doing with hangers and ships. Got the redeemer but I think I'll melt it for the carrack. Was thinking about hangers. Didn't realise the cutlass came with it.

It was a bit of a sore point on the forums, but CIG stuck with it and if you buy a Cutlass you get access to ALL the Hangars as the VFG is considered the top tier..... Upset a few Constelation owners who spent over twice as much on a ship but are expected to pay $50 more for the VFG, but I suspect sold many Cutlasses ;-)

I like my R&Y, those digital walls are nice.

As for spending money on hangars, not going to happen in my case.  Will buy them for in-game money, don't see the point of multiple hangars at the start as they mentioned that hangars will decide your start point; especially not with that $50 price.  Not to mention the possibility of paying rent for each one.

I won't be buying any either, unless you decide to have multiple characters you'll only have one anyway, buying the VFG doesn't necesarily give you 2 Hangars, it depends how you split your ships/packages/etc later, it just gives you the option to start with the VFG, rent is free on starting hangars also if you backed early enough....
