Quote from: BrotherTobious;425684Well if it has good multiplayer then I am really interested.

Well it just so happens....incoming sort of now ish....

https://www.nomanssky.com/next-update/

Full patch notes.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/91i8os/no_mans_sky_next_update_v15_full_patch_notes/ - be preapred to gasp at the length of this list, quite staggering, clearly Hello Games really felt embarassed about the launch and are dead set on putting it right with no extra cost to players. Genius they also release on Xbone today as well. Expect a turbulent launch but I think it'll be rather fun to create a new character from scratch for this.

Highlights, limited small group multiplayer... Elite wing size I expect but.... think Osiris: New Dawn, meets Elite meets [slot in any other space crafting game of recent times] with lots of planets, crafting, building co-operation, character building, an economy, space ships you can create yourself, missions etc.

This could be rather epic. flying through an uninterrupted galaxy with the ability to land, and basically do anything you like.

And a new Atlas website with location features: https://galacticatlas.nomanssky.com/

Quote: "Group up to build communal bases, farms, and racetracks, and share your creations with all players online.

Explore the galaxy at your own pace, or progress together from the very start of the game and all the way through the story.

Invite your friends aboard your Freighter and take on challenging multiplayer missions from the Galactic Commission Station on your bridge.

Communicate with other players vocally using a headset, and / or converse using text chat on PC.

While wandering the galaxy solo, continue to experience chance encounters with strange floating orbs."

I've seen you've been playing this a bit albert, is it worth taking a look at?

Chaosphere

I like the sound of exploring as a group, if that is possible. Will have to have a look at what people are doing with the new build.

The main highlights I notice having played this before and after the major update are:

1) Multiplayer, it's not server based but instance with the added element of proximity. This means Anyone on your Steam Friends list can join you and you them and if you have gone past the first few hours of the game and can hyperjump, you spawn right next to them....this means
2) Easy access to friends locations (and yours) so you can build a base nearby then the next time you are playing alone, you can hyperjump or use the station teleport system (assuming you have built one on your base) to get to your new base near your buddies
3) The more places you visit the more stations you go to the more options you gain in your list to teleport around
4) Graphics, looking amazing and performing really well
5) Things to do, missions, building, exploring, salvaging, blueprint acquisition. You can upgrade your ship by simply finding one in the world and repairing it. You can upgrade your Exosuit by adding slots and upgrades. You can get a new Multi-tool (read that as gun, mining laser, grenade launcher etc.) add slots, upgrade it. Basically if you are with other people in their instance, you can do all this together, also you drop in an out of other players instances if you get close to them, indicated by a flash of info on the screen, and by default you mic is now open and so is theirs so be wary of this.
6) Story, lore, a alien races, ship races (like around a track), character creation, warzones, freighters (like the one Sith was given by an NPC) lots to do.
7) P is your best friend, press P and go to Logs and pick a task and you will see an icon on the radar helping you along. Follow the initial path to get all the critical initial items to start you off.

Recommend playing solo (not Han) until you have acquired a Hyper Drive as you can't join others until you have one (they can join you but it might not be a good thing).

Just drop on Discord and I can give anyone who wants it a few pointers but I seriously recommend you try it for yourself first as that is the major fun, learning it and getting into the game is not so difficult if you follow the Path and Log missions.

£18 on green man gaming if anyone fancies it - activates on steam.

OldBloke

I've fired it up and am enjoying it this time around. I've restarted the game completely and have just travelled to my first planet. I'll shout when I'm hyper-drived up.

That sounds good, I'll do the same.

Well I have now played for 2-3 hours, have the hyperdrive and have warped to my second system. Really enjoying the game! We will have to meet up on Discord soon to see how the multiplayer works.

SithAfrikaan

I've been SINKING hours into this, forgot to even check for activity on the forums lol, Albert and I have been up to all sorts and Galatoni not far off either!
Love is the one thing that transcends time and space.

smilodon

Just got airborne. Of course I spawned on a planet with an average temperature of -57 degrees Celsius, dropping to -68 at night and -100 during storms

Like a boss I still survived and got off the rock. I'll try to get Hyperjump skillz over the next day or two...

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

RizZy

I've been on 3 planets so far, #1 freezing cold, #2 acid rain, #3 freezing cold again, at this point i'll be happy to land somewhere that just isn't trying to kill me.

Chaosphere

I burnt to death on my first one, wandered into toxic plants on the second, and just got attacked by a spawn of 'things' bursting from glowing eggs on another. Loving it!
