They sound abit cheap with my onboard soundcard compared to the others. The mic sounds really good and manages to block out noise from the TV and the baby (When not in full scream mode). After watching a few reviews I'm not the only one of thinks they sound a bit shoddy with onboard sounds, BUT if you have a decent sound card they are apparently amazing. Being a stereo headset it was easy to hear who was coming from left & right in CS:GO but it wasn't half as immersive as the Dolby 7.1 Surround sound pairs I've tried (as you'd expect). I'm sending them back because I don't want to shell out another £50 on a soundcard. Going back to my Turtlebeach Px11's for now and waiting to see what's on offer for Black Friday!
I'm starting to think I'm expecting too much from all of these headphones.

good headphones will expose weaknesses in audio hardware.  get yourself a decent usb dac headphone amp you will not regret it.
I have a Topping VX1

I bought the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard as i hoped the on-board sound would save me having to buy a separate sound card. Are the reviews based on all on-board sound?

I'm keeping my eye on the G4me One prices but secretly hoping that the Steelseries H wireless set drop a bit more.

Only the Sennheiser review was based on on-board sound as they have been the only pair (so far) that hasn't come with it's own little soundcard. I'm now using some Sennheiser HD449's That I bought on Black Friday 2014 (and forgot about Doh!) and picked up a Blue Snowball Microphone for £40 (Black Friday 2015) which seems to be working nicely. The headphones are made for listening to music but they seem to be doing nicely for CS:GO too. I can tell whos coming from left and right, and well, that's as good as it going to get with Stereo headphones. I just need a longer cable, some I'm going to 'borrow' an AUX extension from work. Job done.

Quote from: Tutonic;405970Open does sound better, but it also leaks more noise - if you have to play in an environment like mine, where I have to keep noise to a minimum, then you might want to consider this.

My Steelseries H Wireless are still the dog's particulars by the way, love 'em.

Still not purchased any Headphones but have decided that i want these for the sound quality, wireless connection, retractable microphone and spare battery.
I was very close to buying them for £185 when they changed the name from H Wireless to Siberia 800, with that the price jumped up by £100. It is dropping again but i'm waiting until they are at least £190 delivered.

I'm watching these headsets daily now waiting for the price to drop (hopefully), but the Astro A50 wireless have now caught my attention. Does anyone have these?
If I've missed it in a previous post my apologies.

No experience of those ones Smite, but these ones are good and on special offer at the moment.

If i was getting a wired headset then i would definitely be getting the Sennheiser G4me One set.
For not having to take the headset out of the drawer, connect it to the PC and then have trailing wires / cables, i'm willing to pay the extra for a wireless set.

The 2 I've mentioned are are very closely rated and have slightly different good points / issues.
Sound & Bass, microphone and comfort is better on the Astro A50's. Also comes with a stand to hang the headphones on. Requires a cable to charge every 8-10 hours of use.
Flexibility, charging and retractable microphone is better on the Siberia 800's. Comes with an extra battery and charges in the base unit, every 16-20 hours of use.

Both similar in price.

Still stumped and still watching sites like a hawk :P

ArithonUK

Bought a Turtle Beach i60 headset for Christmas, which is wireless, but the transmitter packed up Christmas evening, so I can now only use it wired, which doesn't support the mic, so sounds great but is basically useless.

Not impressed. Looks like the £349 -> £99 price reduction wasn't a sale price, but an admission of inferior quality.

Got bored of waiting for it to drop so just bought the Siberia 800's from Overclockers for £200 delivered.

All other sites i have been watching (CCL, Amazon, Dabs) have increased their prices by around £50 over the last few weeks.
Some well above the price Steelseries are selling them for on their website, 350euros (£258). They throw in a stand as well.

Hope they are bloody worth it from the glare i got from the Mrs when i pressed "Buy Now".

Headset turned up today, which was pretty quick.
Had an issue with the headset not working at first, finally noticed i had the 2 USB cables swapped over, dumb ass that i am.

Easy to setup, sound quality is superb (so far). When i first started using them i thought i had left the speakers on, the person speaking on YouTube could have been in the room.

One annoyance that i haven't yet figured out is how i can switch between speakers and headphones without changing the default.
Hoping Tut or Michael can give me some guidance.

I'd love to know a trick to overcome that issue, speakers for my music and headset for my game, it's an age old challenge.
Cheers, Bert

Have both speakers and headset enabled.
Have your default set to speakers.
Want to hear music on speakers? Do nothing.
Want to play via headset? Disable speaker output.
Want to hear music via speakers again? Enable speaker output.

If you want to be a pro, make a script to enable/disable playback device when you click on it.
