Just read that and personally I think that's fine. Ã,£5 for another 500MB isn't really a problem. With the use I do at the moment I'm currently sitting at around 200MB a month as I'm wlan at home and work.

that is very tempting! ...where's the catch?! ...surely there must be a catch?!

T-Mobile data cap on it's unlimited streaming is 3GB and after that the connection gets throttled, not sure if there's an extra fee you can pay to de-limit it, but I don't think I'll ever need 3GB on this phone. I can see it being likely in a decade maybe.

The catch will be "Subject to a fair usage policy". This is what the 3GB limit on mine is. I asked them directly. Upto 3GB is considered fair usage, more gets throttled but no extra charge or disconnection. Seems fair enough for me looking at what I've used.

Here's what will happen to the internet you have next month I wouldn't worry, I've not gone over 500mb (was heading that way before beebplayer stopped working. It's just worth being aware of these things. You don't know what apps will be out in 6 months time.

Look for 'Stats' in the App Market. It's a lifesaver for keeping track of call time, texts, data etc.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

My contract is also up (by over 5 months!!) and I'm definately going to android next, I was hoping to hold out for the EVO4G equivalent in the UK. Might be waiting a while though :(

Very tempted by the desire though

smilodon

Not sure we'll get the Evo4 in the UK as it's specific to the US carrier Sprint and their 4G network. Still stranger things have happened :)

It seems you can get the Desire free on an 18 month, 600 minute, uncapped data plan for Ã,£40 a month or Ã,£30 if you pay Ã,£99 for the phone. Now that Vodafone have shafted their customers by reducing their data plan down to a pitiful 500MB a month it looks like a good deal (although I hate the idea of being locked into a phone deal for a year and a half

I do believe he meant the "equivalent" - same reason I haven't done the Desire-upgrade yet. The Evo being a slighter newer type of phone, compared to the Desire, I hope it won't take too long for a phone with somewhat identical specs to appear in Europe. Especially the screen looks awesome!

Itchy

I've had my Desire for a month, and I'm totally in love with it!! What I want now is to get froyo on it...
AFAIK, the Evo needs a 4G network to do what is does (feel free to correct me), which is why we won't be seeing it here in the short term, as
lust-worthy as it is.

smilodon

Ah I understand. Yep an 'equivalent' phone may put in an appearance. As I understand it the Evo has an 8 mega-pixel camera and 8 or 16 gig of built in ROM, plus a few other bits and bobs (better screen).

I suppose we could end up waiting for ever for the 'next' phone. At some point you just have to jump in and grab one :)

Evo's got a slightly bigger screen although same res and not AMOLED
8mp camera with dual flash and 720p video capture over the 5mp on the desire.
HDMI out on the EVO, the potential for using it as a tiny media player for 720p tv eps. :D

Then comes the downfall that its ofcourse never coming out in the UK with its current spec. But who needs 4G anyway? If they keep these specs but drops the 4G I would still buy it.

But then again every day I look at the desire and want it, 18 months contracts though :(

Still undecided :o
