Yep, that's why I bought a Nokia 3310 :D

Ordered the desire earlier on. Offline @ Ã,£285 :)

Nice price, where did you find that?

o2 retentions. And changed my contract to the iphone simplicity Ã,£20 a month. 300 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited net. No contract.

Seemed like the best idea to me, so if a better phone comes along its easier to change.

Froyo (2.2) is up and running on my Desire, and it is fantastic. Over twice the performance of 2.1 and it's really stable too. Using LeeDrOiD Mod

Been running LeeDroid for a couple of days now. You're right its very speedy. My pure widgets decided not to load this morning though. Just got "Problem loading gadget" on the screens. Oh its doing it for the tapatalk widget too. Ill investigate a bit now, I've just got in from a bike ride so need to chill for a minute and eat this mcflurry :>

ok, the only bug I've found so far is the compass sensor doesn't work initially until you tip the phone vertically a few times, then it seems ok.

Well, you may see that around Christmas then.... if current rumours circulating are correct. That's why I ended up rooting. Was running out of space for apps! Now I have ap2sd+ and it's all cake :D

Sorted my problem by reinstalling from backups because I'm afk.

Its really not hard to root the desire at at with the r6 method and rom manager.

I really desire (ha ha) one of these. What's a good deal to get for 100+ calls and texts plus data at the moment? Some reasonable stuff via cashback but would rather get a decently close contract to avoid cashback hassles if possible.

It's always worth working out the cheapest deal for a contract free phone plus a sim only contract. T right be the case that the cost of a two year contract is more than the cost of a phone plus sim. For example for me it was

Free HTC Hero + Ã,£45 contract for two years =  Ã,£1080

against

Ã,£385 for HTC Hero +  Ã,£19.95 a month Sim only = Ã,£863 over the same time scale.
It might work our similar for a Desire?

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

O2 (who I am with currently) seem to offer the HTC sim free for Ã,£285 (unless I misheard) and I currently use one of their simplicity things with an internet bolton that comes out at around Ã,£17.50ish a month

I found a cashback deal on a 2 year contract that works out at 17.19 a month on Orange dolphin 25 (300 mins + Unlimited texts + 500MB data). I've used the casback firm before with success (e2save) but it is a bit of a pain, plus as mentioned earlier in this thread you are still locked in for 2 years.

...how many Mb do people actually use - I suspect I would very very rarely get anywhere near 500Mb let alone 100Mb... but maybe I'm not aware how much data is going through my phone?
